You'd think it would be a simple matter for an omnipotent deity to explain to his followers that "This. Is. Barbaric. You vicious fools. Stop it at once."

God is an excellent communicator. It's us that are the problem - we just don't listen.

blessings :)

the point here is that they didn't ask. They are not followers of God they are followers of their own agenda. Don't blame God for the actions of these men.

Since Israel was nomadic for much of their history, stoning was a means of carrying out the death penalty in such a way that no one person carried the guilt of the death. Much like the firing squad method, I suppose.

There were no jails. Lethal injection hadn't been invented. And it was their civil law. It was their criminal justice system.

One of the reasons Christianity is not bound by the OT laws is because they were civil laws. Christianity is not a nationality. It is a personal choice and relationship.

I don't know how people miss that, but no matter how great a communicator someone is, people misunderstand. Communication is two-way.

I'm not sure how Muslims interpret this. I don't know if they see themselves as a nationality under their law or not. Or how they see their role in relation to God and government. What I've heard is that this sort of extremism is not supported by mainstream Islamics either.

God designed our experience on earth to help us learn and grow by experiencing what happens when people make both good and bad choices. He does communicate truth through a variety of means (e.g., prophets), but to really understand sometimes requires that we experience what happens when truth is ignored. The ambiguity with regard to truth allows this to happen.

For example, I tell my children not to lie and hopefully they obey, but they really begin to understand the principle of honesty when they see what happens when trust is destroyed in a relationship.

God communicates just fine. You need to be willing to hear what He says first.

God does not directly talk to us.
You can't blame God for mans' sin.
Those men had a choice not to stone her.
Again, remember, do you blame God or the men responsible for this action?
Do you blame the idea or the man?
who is responsible?
God Bless
