FIRST and foremost ... appearance! YES, employers do still believe that if you are interested in working for their company that you will come into the interview dressed nicely.

no visible tattoos.
no visible piercings.
no flip flops
no shorts
no sleeveless tops.

The employers first impression of you and your appearance sets the pace for the entire interview. As a hiring manager, you would be AMAZED how people show up for interviews these days. In many cases the decision to hire or not is made within the first 30 seconds based on their appearance. Piercings and tattoos are not allowed in my company and if they show up with every inch of their face pierced, it is just a waste of my time and theirs to continue with the interview.

Now that you've made a great first impression. Just smile and be incredibly friendly. RELAX and talk to them as if you were talking to your best friend. ONLY cleaner and more professional talk. Be honest with them and tell them why would want to work for their company and what you can bring to the table.

Best of luck!

Well can't give you the questions they will ask, from what I know there are basically like 30 different packets that they can use. First make sure you look nice, I know everyone in there is wearing jeans and polos but look nicer than them, also hide any tattoos or piercings that are out of the norm (any thing but an ear ring in each ear take it out for the 15 minutes) . As far as the interview itself, you can't be shy, you are presenting yourself to work in an industry that is all about talking to and interacting with people on a daily basis. When going for this type of job it is better to ramble than to be shy. They are going to ask questions about previous work experience, may ask you what you are going to school for, and probably will ask you to look back on previous times when you may have had to deal with certain situations. Also there is a roleplay. Basically they will have you act like an associate and then they will be the customer, just whatever you have to say, don't say I don't know and leave it at that, say "I don't know let me go find someone who may". And good luck

Go to a book store in the management section and find a book on hiring. I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge buying books that have helped me not only conduct interviews but also go to interviews. Everyone is a little apprehensive when going to an interview, try and relax a little, the monsters will not bite you. They only want to hire the right person for the right job. Gominto the interview dressed for success and confident in yourself. Project an image that they cannot refuse. You have to sell yourself to them but at the same time they have to sell themselves to you and give you reasons why you should work for them. If you make promises such as I'm a hard worker, live up to and exceed their expectations. Good luck on your job, I'm sure you will do well.

Some of the more common questions asked:

Why do you want to work here/for our company? Research a bit on the company, tell them something like, your employees seem to really enjoy their job here...that kind of stuff. Just praise the company

Why should we hire you? Hit on your strengths.

Tell us about yourself...don't tell them your life story here. Just stick with, your a college student, any previous work experience-especially anything relative to this job.

Being a bigger company, with I'm guessing higher turnover/hiring rates, they may just keep it short sweet and to the point. Like the previous answers said, smile a lot, be friendly, shake everyone's hand when you walk in and again when you leave then tell them thank you for giving you the opportunity to interview. I'm the same way, I hate interviews as well. I think a lot of them are such a joke with the questions they ask....anyway good luck and I'm sure you'll do fine!

They may ask you where you have worked before....but what i have learned is if you come in there with a smile and a good attitude they will hire you based on that. If you think about it, people look more towards the personality than all the other stuff. You will see how far you can go if you just smile at someone and be nice to them.

There's a book called 'Knock 'em Dead' that's great for interviews of all kinds.

You should practice in the mirror, too. It really helps

There are a number of websites for that. Most important thing is to go in with confidence. Keep in mind there are likely a ton of companies in your area looking for whatever so don't feel like you have to stop if you don't get this one.
