add 'believe' to the list- they don't like to say they believe anything to be true- in my experience they know it as fact- even if the fact is there is no evidence to support what they know or they have avoided considering other options- saying they believe something to be true would be allowing for the possibility that what someone else believes that is different could be true- can't do that now can we , because that leaves the door open for possibly having to admit they are wrong at some point.

believe
possible / possibly
wrong
mistaken
flawed

yeah, in my experience atheists generally cringe at these words

Your atheist friends were having at laugh at your expense I'm afraid. #1 Atheism isn't a cult. Sense it is not a cult there is no risk of being exorcised from it. And those words are not taboo. Couldn't have a discussion with christian without them could we?

Don't think there are any taboo words in atheist ..... I sincerely there is a cult formed by the atheists too ...... definition of a cult is there has to be a charismatic person leading a group of people and promoting their beliefs ...... Christianity is a cult, it has jesus christs as the charismatic icon (Peter will most likely be the spin doctor), leading a group of merry mens and promoting their beliefs.

-------

Cult isn't a bad word, but it just does not fit into the definition of atheists.

why do you say that? I am an atheist and I can use all of those words in one sentence!

God is not real so we do not have to have evil faith in the divine Holy Spirit, which is good. There, I think that covers it. Am I banned from the atheists organizations? No, because there isn't one.

I wonder if there is such a thing as an "atheist culture." I rather suspect that what we have here is an instance of someone making an assumption that "all people believe as I believe."

"Because G*d said so."
"G*d did it."
"You MUST believe what we do."
"The United States is a Christian nation."
"No one is born gay."
"Only WE know the truth."

They're not single words, but phrases that are not only taboo, but an abomination.

Christianity is far closer to a cult than atheism.

You have the gall to call us a cult?
Look at Christianity, look at all Religion.
You sir, are clearly narrow minded.
