Let's say I have JROTC experience and will enlist into the US Army as an E-3. Does this mean I will have to wait longer to be an E-4 or E-5, is TIS really strict on this? Lets say I enlist for 4 years, can I make Sergeant by that time? (this is only hypothetical, and for info) And I mean lets say promotion factors are on ym side, im doing a good job, ive go tcollege credits, and I take college classes(online)

No you won't have to wait longer to become a Specialist/Corporal. The TIS and TIG can be waived by the 1SG with input from your platoon sergeant/squad leader. Yes you can make Sergeant if you perform your duties well, take college, and excel. I made SSG in 4 1/2 yrs. SFC in 9.

I don't know what branch of service you are talking about, but from what I remember from the Marines, there is only one way to enter the service as an E-3....if you got out of the military as an E-5 or above and then came back some years later, you would re-enter as an E-3.
From my knowledge, if anyone tells you that college credits or JROTC can get you in the military as an E-3 they are lying. E-2 is the highest you can enter.
And to answer the second part of the question, since many branches give you credit for "time in rank" then yes, the sooner you get E-3, the sooner you would get E-4.
And lastly, from my observation you have about a 1 in 3 chance of reaching E-5 before your 4 years are up. For us you needed a certain amount of points, and the cut off for promotions varies based on you MOS, so there are some fields that don't promote fast no matter what you do, and others that promote very fast. I remember meeting a guy that got E-5 right after passing his 2 year mark. But that is very rare. Most people get out after 4 years as an E-4. About 1/3 make it to E-5.

If you enter as an E-3 you will have to wait at least 18 months to get E-4. You will have to meet the minimum TIS requirements. But while you waiting you could like you said take classes and work on correspondence courses. 1000 correspondence course hours are worth 200 promotion points. After you get your E-4 you could go to the board in 6 months. So long story short, with no UCMJ actions against you- you could make E-5 in 2 years.

When I joined the US Navy in 1982, I had all the required JROTC credits to enter the Navy as an E3. I was allowed to take the E4 exam after I did the following
1: complete the advancement requirements and time in rate requirements
2: complete my damage control training requirements
I obtained the rank of E4 in 18 months and after I did the same two steps above I tested for E5 and made E5 with just two and a half years of Naval service. I tested for E6 a few months before I got out of the Navy in 1987 and was selected for E6 in the Navy reserve before I reached my six year anniversary date. I never actually wore my E6 rating badge because I was in the inactive reserve.

I went in the Army with 3 years JROTC.My rank was E-3.In about a year (after AIT) I was promoted to SPC.
It is possible to make E-5 in 4 years. It just depends you meeting the basic requirements (PT, range qualifications, ie promotion points).College classes and credits will help you more in more senior NCO ranks and even warrant officer/officer positions.

If the paintings 15 did no longer have a time suspension then he could properly be suggested for the board precise away(sorry i replaced into no longer reserves so i'm assuming comparable to RA) could desire to the chain of command so choose. If there's a time suspension jointly with forfeiter of pay for 60 days or perhaps if, then he has to attend until the time suspension is over.

you only have to be an E-3 for 6 months to be promoted to E-4.... or be in the army 18 months.....theres time in service and time in grade factors for every promotion..... as long as you have one or the other, and are a good soldier... there is no reason for you not to be promoted after 6 months.... i went in as an E1... got promoted to E2 5 months later.... got my E3 a few months after that... and was an E4 6 months after that

Anything is possible... keep in mind it depends on your MOS. The promotion point vary depending on what MOS you are in. Here is a website that will tell you what the current promotion points are... http://www.armystudyguide.com/content/Promotion_point_cutoff_scores/index.shtml
I have also heard they are currently changing the value of certain awards, the deployments, and correspondace courses.

my hubby was E-4 when he finished school and was up for E-5 six months later (which is the next testing period) so as long as your job advances well and you don't screw up you should be fine
