What software is most commonly used to back up files on PCs?

Question

I often need to back up my data, along with my fathers business data, as well as a few other personal computers. I guess I'm asking for a mobile type of software or something. I heard of ghost but I am not sure what that does.

For home use I use external storage and copy as I finish a file. For business purposes, you may want to look at:
