Go to your local pound or rspca. Go to www.rspcaqld.org.au they have and adoption site showing you all the dogs in shelters near you. Or check the weekend paper in the classifieds under pets, dogs. There should be a hell of a lot of dogs as free to good homes, many are pure bred as well. Or just google brisbane dog rescue, i came up with about 6 different associations, some pure bred rescues, some all breed rescues.

The RSPCA is the best place to go. For around $100-150 you will be able to get a puppy that is wormed, de-sexed, immunised and chipped. They will also have great advice on what dog will suit your information.

But remember you will need to buget for yearly vet check ups and the occasional emergency visit.

You can search online: http://www.adoptapet.com.au/

Or go to the RSCPA at 301 Fairfield Rd, Fairfield. There is always more animals there then on the website.

If you NEED free and/or cheap then you most likely can't afford proper vet care etc. so don't bother getting the dog.

Don't you have a Humane Society down there?
