Transatlantic airfare levels follow pricing "seasons". June-August is peak season; Nov-March, except around Christmas, is low-season; spring and fall are shoulder season. Cheapest typical NYC-LON economy airfares in late January $400; in April $600; in July $900.

This might also help you: http://www.farecompare.com/search/year.html?departure=NYC&destination=LON&p=1 -- it shows current fares for the upcoming 10 months, but does not show future sale fares, or predict availability.

The cheapest time to travel anywhere is when the weather is at it's worse. You can get great deals to London starting in December all the way to February.
