So, I've been getting this annoying message:
You either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player.
I've looked through the Y!A archive and discovered that I need to uninstall, then reinstall this software. The instructions say that I need to download the Adobe unistaller and then:
Save the file to your system, choosing a location where you can find it (for example, your desktop). Macintosh users may need to open or unstuff the hqx file.
Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, or other Messengers. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications which might possibly use Flash Player are still in memory.
Run the uninstaller. This will remove Adobe Flash Player from all browsers on the system.
This is gibberish to me. Someone please explain this to me so I can understand it!

Look in the taskbar across the bottom of your screen. If there are any programs running, exit them. Look in the tray, the part of the task bar to the right that has the clock, volume control, etc. there will probably be other programs in there as well. If you see any of the messenger services like you've listed above, right-click on the icon to bring up a menu that should have an "exit" or "quit" option in it. After you have turned off those programs, you need to run the Adobe Uninstaller. This should then remove the old version of flash on ypur computer and allow you to install the newer version. Good luck.

go to this website first and download the adobe uninstaller to your desktop.
now to uninstall adobe flash player
reboot your computer.
on the bottom right hand side of your task bar these are the files you have to close down... to do that kmove your mouse pointer over a icon and right click it will ask close or exit click on either close or exit. and it will close, do that with all of them, it's ok they will come back the next time you boot your computer up,
do not go on the internet, while your doing this, everything must be shut down
once you have closed everything down double click on the uninstaller icon and it will start to uninstall the flash player once that is done reboot your system again.
now you seem to be having problems with internet explorer i'd use firefox web browser in future down load it from mozilla it is more secure and faster, if you download firefox follow the instructsion to set it up so that it deletes all the cookies history and the private data stored in the web browser, set it up to stop pop up's
get back to me when you have uninstalled flash player

All you have to do is download the Flash Player program from Adobe's website (Macromedia was recently bought out by Adobe). To do this, go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and click the "Download Now" button to get it.
When you do click that button, a box will pop up asking you where you want to save the file to, just choose your desktop, then when it is done it will be right there on your desktop.
To uninstall the flash player first, close all applications like it said. Then click the "Start" button on your window's task bar, then go to control panel, and click "Add or Remove programs". In the list of programs it gives you, just scroll down to Macromedia Flash player or Adobe Flash player, depending on when you first downloaded it, and click uninstall or Remove it.
After it completely uninstalls, just go to your desktop and double click the Adobe Flash player download that you just downloaded. It will then open and install with easy to follow directions.

When you go to download the Adobe Uninstaller, a window should pop up. Click "Save" and then another window, titled "Save As" should appear and the contents of a folder, usually the desktop. If it's not on the desktop, go there, then click "Save" on the bottom right and it will begin downloading. Before you open the uninstaller, close everything thats open. Then open the uninstaller.
I'm assuming you have Windows XP, as it's probably different on other versions of windows...

When you click download on the uninstaller software, you'll get a dialog that asks if you want to run the software or save it. Choose save. You should get a dialog box that shows the path to which the file will be saved. You can browse to another location, if you want to save it somewhere else -- just remember where you put it.
After the download is done, shut down all other applications. Locate the file you downloaded, right-click it, and choose Run.
