well my dad got this check for some money and he gave it to me but he forgot to sign it. So he goes off to london for a buisness trip for i think two weeks...and i just realized he hasen't signed the check. If i signed it for him and cashed it in at the bank would I be able to get in trouble if cought...how much trouble?

i mean if the bank finds out...i'm sure they have some sort of security protocal about those things...

Are you just depositing the check into the his bank account? Shouldn't be a big deal, just make sure he knows about it if they call. I do it all the time with my fiancee, he's a truck driver, not home much, it's a joint account for both of us too. Never had a problem. If you're taking money out of that, the bank may have a problem with it.

It's illegal to forge anyone elses signature. The extent of the crime is defined by the 'what & why' of the forgery. In your case, confessing to the crime to those that you conspired against would probably mean at least a suspension. Or possibly a dismissal from the school. Not to mention what your parents would think and do when they find out. Which of course, the school would be sure to tell them.

Yes, you will get into trouble and you could go to jail if your father consents to prosecution.
If he can afford to have uncashed checks laying around the house while he travels around Europe, surely he can wire you some cash.
