Honestly, I believe the war could've been avoided... but now that we are there, we cannot simply bail out before we finish what we started...

The war in Iraq was absolutely unnecessary and probably the most helpful thing Al Qeada could have asked for! Bush & crew screwed up big time!
However, leaving at this point in time would probably set the entire ME & Africa ablaze. We are faced with a damned if you do & damned if you don't situation in Iraq today. The Sunni & Sh'ite populations are likely to engage in an all out war that will eventually drag India & Pakistan into the situation.
Africa will most likely be dominated by Al Qeada... thus starving millions of Africans.
The US needs to realize that Bush has dragged us into a must win war & get serious about fighting this war. I suggest a mobilization very like that during WW2... :-) It is not like our Auto companies are going all out to build cars today... why not have them build the up armored striker vehicles that our troops so badly need? We could at least keep some of the money we are spending in the US & spread it around to Americans... instead of the Chinese.
Unfortunately bailing out of Iraq today is even an even worse move than going in to begin with. The World needs the ME oil to avoid a World Wide Depression.

Despite what ill informed people say, the CIA was NOT wrong. The Bush administration lied to us, end of story. The war was unconstitutional, and is costing us billions. All the war hawks out there should be sent to Iraq instead of innocent soldiers who have nothing in their mind but the trust and the best interest of their country. They have been betrayed by the right wing nuts who have NO clue. Get the hell out of Iraq NOW

Lets be honest, the Iraq war was never really necessary. But now that you are there you must finish the job.
If you were to pull out now Iraq would become even more of breeding ground for terrorists than it is already. Which would result in more terrorist attacks on American soil. I'm sure this is why George Bush will not pull out the troops.
Just a pity that these things are not properly thought out before hand.

A huge chunk of the Iraqi professional class has left their country and won't be returning anytime soon!

We can't even get an authentic democracy started in Mexico !

What makes you think we can do it in Iraq?

Over 2,000 Iraqi doctors and nurses have been murdered in Iraq already.

As a result of this, over 18,000 doctors have fled Iraq.

They started out with 34,000 doctors for 27 million people.

Do you really think we are helping these people over there?

Our attack of Iraq was undertaken under the most naive set of assumptions.

We thought it would be a cake walk, we would be greeted as liberators, the war would cost us about 1 billion dollars, and the oil money would pay for the war and the rebuilding of Iraq's infrastructure.

How many more mistakes in judgement are we going to make over there?!

Hasn't George W. Bush ended up being al-Qaeda's number one recruiter ?

What's going on with the rebuilding of the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina ?

What's going on with the massive hordes invading our country from Mexico?

It looks like our National Guard troops are more sorely needed at home!

No and No. How the hell can U justify killing innocent people, children, women and old. How can U? And don't start that kakamamie BS about terrorist. The only terrorist are the ones that we are creating now, by killing their family and all the hope thy had in this world.

Edit : Finish what? 650,000 more Iraqis and God knows how many of the bravest people in this country , our brothers and sisters troops. Why? Admit U did an stupid thing and get the hell out, that is the most Honorable thing to do.

Edit : Folks please I know U R are smart, think what does this mean: To kill Iran B 4 they nuke Israel? Please folks I know U R smarter than this. Also why U always think that Anti War ha has to be a liberal or democrat? I don't belong to any party or group. And there are many Republicans who do not approve war. And why use such bad language just because of some minor disagreement? Don't we all love America? we do regardless of what party or Religious? So my Friends, let us unite and work for America.

Thanks and God bless.

Not only was this insipid 'war' not necessary, it was totally unjustifiable. But, George W. Bush intended to invade Iraq from the very first day he stepped foot in the Oval Office - and for three really 'lame' reasons:
1) The Bush family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein ever since the days of Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was criticized, ridiculed and humiliated for not 'finishing the job' and ousting Hussein at that time;
2) Dick Cheney and all his Exxon-Mobil friends want all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so they can get richer and richer and richer feeding America's addiction on cheap, easily-accessible foreign OIL;
3) Ever since World War II, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex recognized how profitable 'war' could be. So it bought up all the politicians, hired pricey lobbyists, and formed special interest groups to encourage and promote more 'war'. Thus, the U.S. got entangled in the Korean Conflict; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the Cold War; Vietnam and Desert Storm - all so that McDonnell-Douglass, GE, Sikorsky, Lockheed-Martin and other military contractors could make BILLIONS from WAR PROFITEERING.

We will not 'win' this 'war' - but we will maintain a large presence in Iraq until we've sucked every drop of OIL from its sands. If that's not the case, WHY are we building the largest embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the 'new' Iraqi puppet government installed by the Bush administration??
This 'war' was all about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING from the very beginning.
And George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld and all 535 members of the most cowardly, contemptible, evil, arrogant, incompetent, corrupt U.S. Congress in history [that sat by as Bush violated our Constitution and went to 'war'] all deserve to be tried in an international tribunal for high crimes against humanity, and - if convicted - deserve to be hanged just as they arranged to hang Hussein. -RKO- 05/20/07

We can't afford to spend $2 billion a week on an occupation that has no end in sight. We need to pull out of there before we as a country are finished.

If we keep borrowing money from China to fund the Iraqi war profiteering, then the collapse of the US dollar is not to far away.

The reason for Iraq was to get to Iran. There was also a neccessary reason for the war which would be to put Suddahm out of power before Russia gave them the technology to make A- bombs. Letting Suudahm have a nuke would be devestating. We can not pull out now, the troops say its getting better, it would be like starting a game but not finishing it and no one wins. Of course, we have to settle Iraq so we can go into Iran before the big nukes are bing built.

No I don't think it was necessary. If they had WMD's why couldn't anyone find them. We will NEVER solve the problems in that country, they have at each others throats for thousands of years and we aren't making any difference. The act of war was revenge based (on Bush's part) and oil based. Ask most returning soldiers if they think they should have been sent there or should still be there.

It was based on doubtful intelligence but once we are there, it does not matter that the CIA was wrong. It did help a democratic government to be elected & if the military can finish training the Iraqi military the goverment will stand. That will help stabilize the region & help the world be safer.

As a military mother, I believe we must stay to finish the job or until Iraq says they are ready to handle it.
