Mid-America Mopars have a car show every year in the mid-west and have had for 19 years. There are several "General Lees" present at each show and have always been a big hit. Since the newer movie came out the popularity has grown among the younger crowd. The rebel flag was a symbol of the south. It is a part of our American history and is still used today in flag ceremonies in U.S. Naval Commissioning. There was more to the south than slavery. Only very narrow-minded people see rebel flags as a symbol of racism.

Country Thunder bans Rebel flag from festival
Lisa Nicita
The Arizona Republic
Apr. 3, 2006 12:00 AM
Campers and cowboy hats will begin rolling into Florence for the annual Country Thunder USA celebration this week, but Confederate pride will have to be checked at the gate.
While the Confederate belly-button rings and cellphone covers will likely slide by, concertgoers should leave the bedspreads and the Lycra wrestling masks that just arrived from eBay at home. In an effort to avoid some of last year's rowdy, offensive behavior, event organizers will crack down this year on large Confederate displays and will not allow concertgoers to decorate campgrounds with the flag.

You can't do anything thiese days without offending someone. Most people would know that the car is The General Lee Charger, but there are those who won't care. So take your chances and spin the wheel. If it gets keyed, then it does, if it doesn't, then you are ahead of the game. I would be careful where I parked it at night however. Good luck.

only to true car collectors, that would rather it not become one of 5,000 painted clones. After owning a 68 and 69 charger---- back before and after the show---just too many were totaled making the show. Just too hard finding a good straight one now--just to see it painted bright orange; but hey if you want to be a clone and have the money---go for it.

I go to car cruises all the time and I see general lee's all the time, some fake and then there are the origionals that people have bought, I think everyone knows about the general lee and the dukes and they respect that, I really don't think you have to worry about getting it keyed.

Many in the mopar collector field are purists they want to see a car restored to the original factory condition. It's to bad for them you own the car I say do what makes you happy.I hardly think anybody will think your a redneck just because your driving a general lee.

A lot of people have tried to replicate the General Lee. If you choose to do so, please do it correctly down to every detail. I don't see a problem with it personally I like the General Lee. Just don't have the money to build one myself.

It is offensive to somebody I am sure. Everything you do offends somebody. Do what you want. (Just make sure you stay away from LA or New York) hehe
