Starting with a Cessna 152 you can expect a cruise speed of ~110 knots, Cessna 172 ~120 knots and 182 ~130 knots. As the most numerous planes in current production in North America that is indicative of most single engine aircraft. The Cirrus SR22 cruises at ~220 knots, the Lancair IV-P cruises at ~330 MPH. Piston twins have very similar performance which is based on engine horsepower and aircraft design.

The Lancair Propjet cruises at ~375 MPH, the twin engine Piaggio Avanti P180 flies at FL41 at ~400 knots as the fastest propellor driven passenger aircraft.

Commercial jet travel is really dependent on engine and airframe design as well as the presence and direction of the Jet stream. Speed over the ground is typically 550 knots but a favourable jetstream could increase that to near Mach at ~650 knots, the opposite holds for an unfavourable air movement pushing the speed over ground into the high 400 knot range.

Commercial jets generally cruise at about 550 to 600 mph. However, that is NOT their top speed. A 747 can go 702 mph at full power. Most other passenger jets can also do around 700 mph.

Boeing 777, 787, 747 are about Mach .85 (85% of speed of sound). 767 and 757 are Mach .8, and 737 is Mach .78.

I believe the Airbus airplanes are about Mach .80 to Mach .82.

Generally the shorter range airplanes fly a little slower since speed is a little less important over short distances and this reduces fuel burn.

it depends. The average is around 450 to 500 knots. or about 480 to 550miles per hours. If you fly into the wind the pilots add power to the engine to maintain around 500 miles per hour. IF the planes has the jets stream behind it it can fly 600 to 650 miles per hour.

depends on the airplane, but I would say the average passanger jet flys about 450 mph.

Los Angelese to Hawaii is 2400 miles takes about 5 to 5 1/2 hours

Generically, a typical modern commercial airliner cruises at about 520mph and has a max speed of about 570mph.
