There is no better, in this case. Unless it's in the eye of the beholder. Read this, and see if you agree:

At that size, probably an LCD. You can get 37" plasmas, but they're not common. Plasmas really come into their own at 42" and over. Your best bet is to go to a showroom and take a look at the difference in person.
Personally, I'd always go for an LCD. Plasmas do have a lovely picture, but there are very few plasmas with full HD resolution, and they're much more expensive. Plasmas are also notoriously buggy and prone to irrepairable faults.

Just remember a plasma will cost you a bit more, but the pixels on the screen refresh quicker than a LCD therefore you will get a lot better picture especially if you are watching fast moving pictures, also Plasma's have a better viewing angle so you dont have to sitting square on to have a good picture, I have a 42 inch plasma & a 30 inch LCD & the plasma has a much better picture overall.

Just a correction to an answer above - plasmas DO NOT use 'huge' amounts of electricity!!
I have a 37" Panasonic plasma - its power consumption is 250 watts. A comparable LCD is 150 watts and a similar sized CRT is 200 watts. The power supply unit in my PC is 300 watts and my A/V amplifier is 400 watts. As you can clearly see, plasmas are not power hungry...
As far as the picture quality goes, check out the link below to see what the general public REALLY think - you may be surprised...

It depends where you want to put it. If you have a bright sunny room then a LCD gives a better picture. However if you watch it at night, and watch a lot of movies then a plasma is better. When you have the inevitable night time clips plasma show black as black not grey so you can actually see what is going on.

It's a bit like saying "I'm getting a new car - should I get diesel or petrol" It depends on what your using it for, where it is and your personal preference. I personally would say the bigger the screen, the more I would lean towards plasma. They have better contrast and colour reproduction on the larger screens and a much better viewing angle. The latest LG screens with the XD II technology are superb, as are the latest Hitachi screens.

Ive just bought a plasma. I went into 6 different stores before I decided and the salesmen say that if you get a 36" or smaller, get a LCD. Any bigger, get a plasma.

depends what you will use it for. for normal viewing of tv/dvd then get either. myths of plasmas needing to be regassed are not true. both offer awesome picture quality
if you will be playing games on it then dont get a plasma. when still images are left on a plasma for any length of time (like things on video games) the images can become burnt into the screen and will be visible when the screen is light. get lcd if you will play video games.

Plasma screens use a huge amount of electricity. A big plasma screen will heat the room. Plasma cells burn through and you lose pixels over time. LCD is hands down the better technology immediately and over time until you get to really large screens the price spread eats you.
If you are a vidiot and there are deep aesthetic issues, go where your fetish takes you.
