I want to see what it's like first and how I like it and how I look. I have thick my three inches below the shoulder hair. I've never dyed my hair or even gotten highlights so this would be the first time I ever really did something big with my hair. I didn't want to do it during the school year because well teenage girls can be well I'm pretty sure you get the point. I've done the research on the Pc the only thing left for me to do is find somebody good, talk to them and then take the plunge and do it.
What do you think?

If you want to try it, I'd say go for it. Just go to a salon and talk it over with a stylist. Also, make sure you keep it well conditioned so your hair doesn't dry out.

I can only speak from my experience. I have never had a perm I liked. I only did it about 3 times and all were many years ago but I wished I had not afterward for each one. I have seen people with cute perms though, so you should not rule it out completely.

Decide what you are looking for - curls, waves, etc. and talk to people about how your hair would texture would work. Also, find out how much maintenance (product, styling time, etc.) the perm would be.

I think you have the right idea - to talk to people. I would talk to salons to get their professional opinion and also to people who have had it done. Did they like it, what type of perm, would they recommend the perm/stylist?

There are lots of things to consider but whenever I am about to do something new to my hair, I just think about how it will 1always grow back - it is never a permanent, irreversible decision!

Good luck with your decision.

Straight hair does look good in the summer, but a slight perm can look pretty. don't go for a really curly hairstyle, just wave it slightly. Since your hair is pretty long, cut your hair layered, then get it slightly permed, wavyish. put your bangs to the side. it goes GREAT with long, wavy hair. Don't listen to people who say that no one wears perms anymore. Just go for a natural, wavy hairstyle.

If you do get a perm, make sure not to hang out in the sun too much because you might further damage your hair. If you do hang out in the sun, make sure to spritz your hair with a light leave-in conditioner periodically all day.

Perms take out some people's hair, it is best to go natural.

Honestly, I didn't think people still got perms. I haven't heard of anyone getting one since 1985. I wouldn't do it.
