That's a lot of miles for a 2002. Ford Taurus isn't that great of a car anyways, so you better watch it. A car like that isn't worth more than about $3000. If it would be your only means of transportation then it might be worth it. Other than that, there's probably a lot of good inexpensive foreign cars out there.

I have a 99 Ford Taurus and have had no major problems as of yet. The air conditioner compressor went on the fritz about a week ago though. It has 85,00 miles and runs great.

I guess it depends on the price.
That's a lot of miles. I have an 03 Taurus with 43,000 miles. No problems so far.

If the Taurus has been well maintained, it should be a good car for years to come. The 3.0 engine is a better engine than the higher horsepower model. Check and see if the transmission has been serviced. That was this car's weak spot.
Other than that, happy motoring

I had an 86 with 221K on it. That was the last I heard, it has been through 3 generations of our family, and my daughter finally sold it to a friend of hers. In all those miles, the engine was never gotten into. Maintenance was kept up and the oil was changed every 3K miles. So there you go. good luck
