I dont know how to live in a family. i'm 6 years older than the kids...i think my mom and her husband group me in with the kids and dont REALIZE I'm not 11 years old!! i've gone from complete freedom to having none...it's really hard to cope in this situation especially because i have very different beliefs and i''m VERY independent. i need advise...what can I do to ease the stress and break free from them trying to control me....what role do i play in the house....how should i be treated???

Sorry for the stress you're under. The only way to survive all of this is to show your mom (and the new husband) that you ARE older than 11. That means behaving more like an adult (and it's not easy being an adult!). Help with chores, agree to make dinner one night a week, keep your space clean and ask that other members respect your space. If you're actually helping around the house, your mom will more likely support the independence you seek in a full household. Good luck and hang in there... life goes by faster than you think, and you'll be on your own before you know it.

LMAO what kind of under-the-table-job did you get to buy your own apartment at age 13?!?! right, I'm sure a landlord actually rented an apartment to a 13 year old. geez. you're 13 and living with your mom and siblings. Follow the daggone rules and stop lying!

Why on earth you were permitted to live independently at 13 is beyond me...you're going to face some struggles I fear. Are you of age now? I can't help but wonder why you are having to move back in with them unless ofcourse you are still a minor.

Tell your Mom in person exactly how you feel. If she is understanding, you will be given lots of freedom and treated as an adult. Thats what i did, as my brothers are 11,12,13,26(large gap there) and my mom used to treat me like a child. I got pissed and told her strait up what was going on, and she now trusts me with things and understands that i wish to be treated like an adult.

ummmmm you didn't get an apartment when you were 13...... no landlord would sign an agreement to a 13 year old. besides, you would have no way to support yourself as you can't work as a 13 year old.
