My brother got married outside, we're Baptist and his wife is Catholic. They went through the pre-cana classes and then petitioned to get married in a location outside of church. It isn't considered a sacramental wedding but it is a valid marriage in the eyes of the Catholic church.

My hubby and I are both Catholics. We were married outside of the church, in a tiny Gazebo.. Catholic Priests are funny about marrying outside of our religion and you have to go through classes before your Priest will marry you (inside or out). Good luck!

I am also a Catholic and have some very very devout friends, one of whom was just married outdoors.
Your fiancee does not have to convert, but you will still have to attend marriage prep and agree to raise your children Catholic. You need to speak with your local priest or bishop regarding a dispensation (this means that the church will agree to recognize your marriage even though it did not occur in a church). It is kind of tough to get one if you do not already have a relationship with your priest.
Congratulations!!!!

Although the usual practice is for a Catholic marriage to be celebrated is in a parish church, the bishop (not the priest) can give permission for the marriage to be celebrated in another suitable place.
With love in Christ.

In this day and age, I'm almost positive you can find a priest who will be more than happy to marry you outside. Our teacher at the hospital had your situation and the priest came to her backyard. They had a lovely wedding. I wish you many years of happiness together.

I think that it will really depend on your Priest. Some will allow you to do so (or so I've heard..), while others will not acknowledge the wedding unless it is in the church. Are you interested in having the Priest marry you outdoors, or having her Pastor marry you?

Rose S really needs to learn that Roman Catholics are Christian. The representatives won't be talking about two different religions -- they will be talking about the same religion.

I don't really think it's possible. My uncle married a Catholic and he had to turn Catholic for them to get married period. She couldn't change religion, no priest would grant it. They did say screw it and had a small wedding in Vegas but it wasn't seen as official so 2 years later they had their big hoity-hoidy Catholic wedding.

we have a small church in kona -- st. peter's catholic church -- right on the beach. it may give you the small beach feeling you're seeking without the hassle of trying for the catholic church approvals.

my htb is a catholic.. i am a christian
because we can't decide on whose church to get married in we are going to have a celebrant do it out of the church..
i refuse to marry in a catholic ceremony, and he refuses a christian one...
at the same time however, we are asking a representitive from each one to come and make a speech that way both religions are included.. its working well for us (took a bit of time for the family to come around, but they both realise it was a hard decision)
good luck
