I was wondering whether the new passport laws in the wake of homeland security will affect my passport- it was issued in 2004, so it is actually valid for about another 7 years; does it remain valid regardless, or do I need to apply for a new one under the new laws imposed by homeland security?

merci vielmals!

Passports are valid until the expiration date even when there are changes in the issuance of new passports.

It should remain valid regardless of the situation. Just think of all the other people that would have to get a new passport. I think that headache would be big so, they probably wouldnt deal with it. If you have any question, best bet is to call the U.S. embassy

Your current passport is still legal and valid; there is no need for you to get the new one out.
