find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise (running, jogging, swimming, cycling, elliptical etc) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

We have, at least, 3 questions here.

To start with exercising IS the best way to lose weight. Most experts will agree with me that walking is among the top 5 methods for weight loss.

I put walking at number one.

When you ask what kind of exercise do you do daily, do you really want my routine or one for someone getting started.

I will answer for a person just getting started. Start walking.
Try to get in a 30 minute walk every day. You can walk outdoors. You can walk in a mall. You can walk in the hall ways of an apartment building or work place. The main thing is to walk.

Then start thinking of ways to extend your walking without taking up your whole life. When shopping... take that parking spot across the lot instead of the one nearest the entrance. Use the stairs instead of the elevator for a couple of floors.

I do not limit my food or calorie intake. I would suggest health eating choices. Limit fried foods to once a month. Add lots of vegetables and fruit. Limit beef and pork to once a week. Add more chicken, turkey and fish to your meals.
Eat whole grain breads and cereals and use low fat milk, cheese and yogurt.

This is a more difficult question to answer because I do not know if you wish to lose 5 pounds or need to lose 50. However, if you need to lose more than 10 pounds you really need to consult your doctor.

Running is probably the most effective exercise as it can burn up to 1,000 calories in an hour. Most aerobic exercises burn 400-500 calories an hour.

I try to stay fit by getting 7-8 hours of exercise every week. I go running every other day. For cross training I go to step class and do weights. I also attend a Pilate's class and go hiking on the weekends.

However, you need to to find exercises which you like and are able to keep up long term. Also, after a few months, your body will adapt to a fitness routine, so it's a good idea to mix up your fitness routine every 3-6 months to be in the best overall physical condition.

As for diet, try to limit your self to 1500 calories, or so. Eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Try to eat a diet that is either low in fat or carbs (both work). Avoid junk food and fast food.
