Well, if you put grease on you scalp, it won't get oxygen. So ultimately your hair won't like it. Apply it to the hair, not the scalp, than it's great.
I've read in a Grandma's remedies-book, that nettle fibre plant helps a lot. U can pick them fresh, or you can just buy the dried ones. Brew tea from it. Make it very concentrated and than soak your hair in it for half an hour. (Do this after you shampood and conditioned)
Rinse (not excessevely) and towel dry hair.
Repeat this once every weak (or every two weeks if you don't have the time). According to the book, it should cure the dandruff.

Good luck!

All natural "carrier" oils are wonderful for the hair. Its why the people in India/Japan the middle east all have luxurious hair...they all use lots and lots of oils in everything they eat.
One of the best conditioners around is:
doing a Pre-Treatment to your hair...

1-2 hours "before" your shower.... 1/2 Cup of Sesame Oil (Grocery Store) warm up for 8-9 seconds in microwave....brush on ends of hair (pastry brush /paint brush - I use tint brush from beauty supply) apply to dry parts first....... then all over & on scalp (messy) ...leave on for 1-2 hours....shower/shampoo you regular way.
Do this once a week.

It is a GREAT - inexpensive Deep hair conditioner...and the oils are great for the hair follicles (which is where the hair grows from).

Good oils for hair:
Avocado
Sesame
Wheat Germ
Shea
Sunflower( High Oleic)

Try it out...report back!

It's a great conditioner. I don't see how it would affect dandruff which is caused by a dry scalp and your nourishing your scalp.
