God is not a joke and neither are the people who believe in God. The belief in God for many people is a source of calm and balance. The reality of God does not matter. As long as believers get peace from their belief, the greater good has been achieved.
Remember, history shows us that alienating religious people can have dire consequences if those people rebel. And that is also no joking matter.
I, like you, am not a religious person. However, I understand that I am in the minority. Ignoring the feelings of the majority of my fellow human beings can't possibly be a good idea. In fact, I would say ignoring their feelings would be a joke. A bad joke.

Its really interesting and it makes you ask the question, 'why are we right?, out of all the beliefs that ever existed, why now is the christian god or the roman gods the right one?.
Unfortuneately mankind is a smidgen in this universes existence, its made me question, but at the same time, I mostly hope there is something more, I think its just what we humans do to make ourselfs feel better. Oh well the day will come when we find out.
Why do people get aggresive if someone mentions that they dont think there is a God. Religous people respond by saying that the person will 'burn in hell'. I dont remember it being a necessity to believe in God to go to heaven, so if a non-believer does not sin willl he go to hell. If someone has learning disability and doesnt comprehend god, do they go to hell, do babies who die who have no understyanding go to hell. And dont get me started on animals, do they go to hell.
There probably is a God and an afterlife, but people dont need to get aggresive if someone doubts it, bercause it doesnt matter because they will go to heaven anyway.

God and the thing most people imagine is God are not the same thing. You don't have to look for God. God will find you. And...when you have a revelation, you'll feel silly about feeling the way you do now.
