Lettuce won't kill them but it has no useful nutrients--it's mostly water. It can cause diarrhea. There are better vegies to offer. Check out www.cockatielcottage.net for good diet info.

Lettuce is pretty good for cockatiels as it has a lot of vitamin A and other stuff that helps fight off deficiencies in their diet. Spinach has calcium. Iceburg is the least favorable as it has a lot of water and almost no nutrients. However, it makes a great treat :-) . Some birds love to dance through wet lettuce leaves, so not only is it a great food it's fun to poop on, too .

It won't kill them and they will probably like it, as well as other vegies. Just don't overfeed them the vegies. Make it a treet once or twice a wk. leave it for a day and remove in the evening. The very most importaint thing when feeding vegies is to wash throughly, I MEAN THROUGHLY!!! So much crap is sprayed on vegies now days, those little bodies can't take it. You can go to the pet store and get these little containers which have greens for birds and you can grow your own. Then u know exactly what they are getting witn no pestacides.

like anything they can eat give in moderation. Have a healthy mix of seeds and pellet. these guys are not that big so giving them a high quality food should not cost that much.........

My cockatiel loves broccoli and cole slaw mix (raw). I give it to him about once or twice a week as a treat, not a regular diet.

My birds (cockateils and parrots) love most all vegetables and seeeds. My cockateils life sunflower seed the best. My shih-tzu even loves raw potatoes and broccili!

Just dont give them iceberg....romaine, green leaf and all that is good for them. Iceberg won't kill them it just doesn't have much in the way of vitamin....it is a lot of water.

On no ... they just love it! Try giving them a Caesar salad with Ken's Lite Caesar salad ... they'll just eat it up ... I know I do! Remember ... no tomatos in a Caesar!
