"Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger."
—Jeremiah 7:17–18
"... to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem ..."

Sergio- The bible never said such a thing? Then what are those two quotations I have right there. Where do you think I got them from, the back of a box of cereal?

Notice that those who worshiped Asherah are condemned, not commended.

Asherah was Baal's consort, not Yahweh's.

You are sadly mistaken! The Lord through the Prophet Jeremiah calls this an abomination, in his eyes. The queen worshiped was a brach off of the original gueen of Babylon.

It does say that, but the people are doing all of those preparations for a false god. See when it says "...unto other gods..." and "...provoke me to anger.."? Well he is talking about what the false-believers are doing for their god, not in addition to the one true God.

In both verses this "queen of heaven" is referred to as a false idol. Each time someone praised her, God got angry. I think she was supposed to be Baal's wife or something like that...pagan gods....false.

ROFL!!! C'mon kiddo. . .you CAN read. . .these passages in NO way talk about Yahweh's queen!!!! These verses talk about the people of Israel's idolatry- - -they joined in with the native folk and participated in various practices of homage/festival to the pagan 'queen of heaven'. . .

i'm not christian but i do want to set some facts straight (i dislike christianity but i know alot about it bcuz my family is catholic and i was raised catholic). The 'queen of heaven' is refering to Ishtar (a goddess for the babylonian ppl) there are periods of time contained in the bible where the hebrews were captured and forced to worship idols, or they would turn to idols of their own will. the passages refer to the fact that "god" is displeased with his ppl's idol worship.... for my own thoughts tho.. tho they r selfproclaimed monotheistics they seem very polytheistic at times... the reason y i renounced christianity... they r hypocritical

Just more evidence piling up of the incredible and laughable stupidity and lack of reading comprehension skills typifying so many atheists today. Keep it coming. Sunday night's are usually boring, but you and those like you faithfully keep me and many others amused with your brainless rantings.
