yes you can. put in another OS disk, reboot your computer and reformat your harddrive and install the new OS

Shooting from the hip on this but you will have to install another Windows program to "delete" the Vista program. I don't believe that you can "uninstall" as you propose and have a functioning computer as this is what drives everything else unless you want to get back to the bascs with DOS and try to memorize all of those back slashes and other stuff from yesteryear. Windows is your operating system and you can install some other Windows software and it will most likely prompt you to "Continue" before erasing Vista so it can install your choice of software.

Just Format your partition inwhich you installed the window or try Partition Magic in order to remove Old version of Windows and install another operating system.

If you have a XP,Win2K genuine offical CD (Not upgrade) or another OS you wish to replace it with, then after you have backed up any important data you may need, download DBAN Boot And Nuke http://dban.sourceforge.net/ you can erase your entire hard drive and start again with a fresh install of your favourite OS...
