I am a big fan of T-Bone walker, don't have an extensive knowledge of blues, but know some of the main men e.g robert Johnson, Freddie King etc.

I need to know about some big figures in blues, I especially like the later RnB stuff T-Bone walker did. Dont like the Freddie King stuff as much as its too much like 50s rock n roll.

Any names I should know about?

You could start with B.B. King and Eric Clapton, you can't go wrong with those guys. Stevie Ray Vaughan is also a popular choice as well as Jimi Hendrix. For the new school blues try people like Blues Saraceno, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Robert Randolph.

Dr. John for piano.
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
Taj Mahal
The Smokin' Joe Kubeck Band (featuring B'Nois King) has an eclectic range from jazz to rockin' roadhouse to sad-broken-heart songs

Most of all, explore the Blues section of you record stores. Don't be afraid to check out unknowns-you might just find the next big name in Blues.

Research T-Bone Walker & other artists you like.Check out "roots & influences" "similar artists" And"followers"One artist will lead to 5 more to !0 more.Soon you'll know 100 artists that perfectly fit the bill for you.You can hear snippets of the songs-reviews of the albums. But take the reviews with a grain of salt. They totally miss it on some stuff.Rely mainly on your ears.

You are a good man, Charlie Brown, and your search will bring you enlightenment and joy.

I'm not going to list a bunch of names, but start Googling "The Blues".
Robert Cray, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bobby Blue Bland, Etta James, Keb' Mo', Fleetwood Mac (1960's only). Don't leave out rockers like the Allman Brothers or Eric Clapton or Janis Joplin. Also Billie Holliday. There ain't no white, there ain't not black, there's only the Blues.

I also will not list a bunch of names here, it would bring sadness to your search for the great blues.

I will say that once you are in, you will never be happier. The blues is not about what is bad in life, it is about making it through the bad times to find joy and peace through music.

Remember that most American music, from rock and roll to swing to jazz to heavy metal, all has it's roots in the blues.

A few names I highly recomend? Check out John Mayall, Robert Cray, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, and BB King for starters.

Welcome to the club man....

ROCK ON!
