I would go to an animal shelter for sure, you are saving a life by doing that. But you have to realize that you will still end up paying close to a hundred for the dog and everything it will need. I payed the shelter about 20$ for my dog, but if its a pup most animal shelters require you to spay/neuter the dog right away. Also alot of pound pups have worms, so that will cost money as well. Take into consideration the money for a collar, leash, food, water and dog dishes (if you dont want to use bowls you own) and other necessities. I bought alot of pee pads while potty training my dog.
But all of this is SO worth it. But please try to adopt, those pups can be some of the most loving dogs ever. And sometimes I could swear my dog knows what I did for him by saving him from being put down. Good luck!
Also, you should put your location on here so that people can help to research shelters and adoption facilities near you. If you do id be more than happy to look something up for you.

honey, i hate to say it but if you can only afford a dog that costs $100, then you probably can't afford a dog. dog's are very expensive to maintain. have you thought of the extra costs once you get a dog? for instance, i had to get a small kennel to keep it in during the day ($40), a doggy gate so she didn't have access to the whole house ($40), a puppy bed ($35), food ($10 or more), etc. i'm sorry to be such a bummer, but maybe you should think about waiting a little wihle to get a dog. i'm sure you want to give it all the love, attention, and vet care it needs once you get it. you'd feel really bad if something happened to the puppy and you couldn't afford to take it to the vet!

If you cannot afford even $100 for a dog then you cannot afford the vet bills for the first year !!!!
Get a stuffed dog and wait till you have the money to do it right !
Don't be selfish, YOU want a dog, but YOU can't give it the health care it should have. So love dogs and wait till you are ready.
Then adopt from a local shelter, but even free dogs cost money to care for !!!!!

Adopt a dog from a local animal shelter or pound. The dogs there need you as much - and more - as you want them. I don't know about other shelters, but the dogs at mine come spayed/neutered, microchipped, and I believe vaccinated as well.

If you can only afford $100.00 for a dog then don't get one. You still have the food to buy and what about taking your dog to the vet to get its shots. Don't get a dog if you can't handle the bills that come with the dog.

GO TO A HUMANE SOCIETY OR ANIMAL SHELTER!!! There are thousands of dogs being put to sleep every day simply becasue no one came in and adopted them. Most of them have amazing temperments, in fact most humane societies will temperment test dogs before adopting them out. You won't regret it!
