Yes, you need surgury to get your dogs fixed. There is no "pill" for dogs. Why do you want to breed your dog? Do you really like adding to the dogs being killed in shelters each day because there aren't enough homes for them? Please do them all a favor and STOP! Go get them fixed.
Just keeping the female crated doesn't prevent a pregnancy - the male will do almost anything to get at her!
What do you have a wolf for anyway? They are wild animals and shouldn't have to live with a moron who breeds them with a great dane.

That's ridiculous. You either need to neuter the Wolf or build a very strong pen with a roof that is dig proof...cement floor or fence into the ground.
I had 3 intact males and 3 intact females and I NEVER had an accidental breeding !!! I know when my girls go into season and I separate them from the boys. How hard is that ?
Very few people can afford to feed and pay for vet bills for the giant breeds anyway. I doubt you've done all your health and genetic tests on your Dane that should be done for ALL breeding dogs. So either spay her or keep her safe and do your testing (check Dane club sites for health info and what to test for) Minimum is probably Eyes, ears, elbows, hips...i'd guess.
Unless you have at least 8 good homes lined up before you breed your female, I wouldn't breed her at all. As you know Danes can have large litters.

This is a really stupid question. You need to practice common sense! When you see your dog in heat, SEPARATE THEM!! Make sure the male can't get to your female! It's not that hard.
Of course, on the other hand, if you were really smart about breeding, you wouldn't be a backyard breeder to begin with. You would do your dogs (and yourself) a huge favor by getting them, and any other dogs you own, fixed. There are way too many dogs being put to sleep everyday because they can't be adopted. Do everyone a favor and get the surgery for your dogs. If you have to ask a stupid question like this one, then you have no business breeding your dogs.

Unless you Dane is an excellant speciman of her breed proven by showing or being evaluated by at least 3 breed knowledgable people/judges, has had and passed genetic testing (OFA/PenHip, CERF/PRA, thyroid, cardio all of which are very important in a Dane), has passed temperament testing, has an inpeccible pedigree and is at least 2 years old she shouldn't be bred anyway..she should be spayed. Unspayed females are at high risk of mammary cancer & pyometria.
Also not to be rude but it sounds to me like you are very irresponsible to not control your dogs when your female is in heat.
You have a lot to learn about responsible breeding before you ever consider breeding Danes or any other breed.

A dog will come into season every 5 to 6 months. You will need to keep the female confined in a location that a male can't get to her at the first signs of heat cycle,as a female will usually bred upon the 10th day of her cycle.

I totally agree with the others about the female dog being dominant. But, humping can also mean playing. I've several puppies/dogs that come into the doggie daycare where I work (been there for the past 2 years, and have seen alot of this behavior---mainly between spayed/neutered dogs) and thats sometimes how they get the other dogs to play with them.

That is a "no brainer." When the female is in heat, separate the dogs for six weeks. He's just doing what dogs do (those with four legs and..... those with two legs). You need to talk to your vet and get educated on ways to tell when the female is coming into heat.

Wow.. You should have them all spayed/ neutered.. You're not very smart.. Commonsense says crate the one in season and she can't get pregnant..
If you can't figure out how to keep 2 dogs apart and they keep breeding how are you going to figure out if your b itch is pregnant, when she will whelp, what to do when she does, how to care for her and the puppies and everything else that comes along with it.
