The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, widely known as the LDS Church or the Mormon Church, is the largest and most well-known denomination originating from the Latter Day Saint movement (a group of churches and adherents who follow the teachings of Joseph Smith, Jr.). The church is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has established churches and temples worldwide, reporting nearly 13 million members on its rolls.[1]
Adherents to the church (usually called Mormons or Latter-day Saints) believe that Jesus leads their church via revelation given to the President of the Church, whom they consider to be a prophet. They count themselves as Christians, but do not consider themselves part of the Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant traditions. Instead, they believe that the church is a restoration of 1st century Christianity. They believe in the Old Testament and New Testament, but have added three books to their scriptural canon: the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price.
Historically, the church has distinguished itself from modern Christianity by its practice of polygamy (officially discontinued in 1890), and by its other unique doctrines and practices such as the Endowment, baptism for the dead, and its views on the Godhead. The church teaches that it is "the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth",[2] but it has cooperated with other religious organizations in promoting humanitarian and moral causes.

The faith was founded by one Joseph Smith, who claimed to have found metal plates buried in upstate New York, impressed with characters in an unknown language. With the aid of two stones, he "translated" these into English; this is the book of Mormon, a long screed advocating Christianity. Smith acquired a number of followers, who were not well treated by the locals, and they moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, where Smith was eventually lynched for sexual practices inappropriate to describe in a forum intended for family consumption. Presently, led by Brigham Young, the group moved to what is now Salt Lake City, and set up shop there. Due to its emphasis on self-reliance, industriousness, and large families, the sect flourished, notwithstanding the nonsensicalness of its theology. Various offshoots formed over time; the most notorious practice of these was polygamy, which is unlawful in Utah but still practiced in some remote areas.

i became raised as an LDS person. I even have long previous to the Church. I even have been saved from those lies. particular, there is a number of BS in anti-mormon agendas, yet in component of actuality that Mormons have self belief while they die they get to become Gods and that God the father became as quickly as a guy and that HE has a Father, and his Father has a Father and that they are in a position to't provide good solutions on the place that line ends. they suspect additionally in a spouse of God. None of those issues, between MANY different thigns they suspect, are biblical. So i'm unfastened to choose Jesus Christ and His Salvation without the Mormon church's fake coaching at the back of it.

From what I read in their "Book of Abraham" they believe that the original sin was sexual relations between Adam and Eve.
I personally have a problem with that.
Because I have heard that idea repeated by many Christians through the years, I'm strongly tempted to think that that notion began with the Mormons.

Rats. Starsha42 took the words right out of me.
For fun, read the Book of Ether (aptly named) section of the Book of Mormon, and think about the engineering, logistics and plausibilty.
Then ask, why do some people believe this horse manure?

They used to allow men to have more than one wife. They wrote their own version of the bible, called the book of mormon. They can be very sincere people, but they are sincerely following a cult.
