Yes there actually was a new report on the other day on the increase of food prices. The jump is insanely outrageous. Its all politics and a conspiracy if you ask me.

I have really rearranged my grocery shopping habits. I used to spend 40 to 70 dollars and it would last 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, and always shopped at the same popular shopping market. Now, no matter what, I don't spend over 20 dollars per shopping trip, unless there is a great sale, and I am storing up on an item, I will use for several months.
Such as Bush beans, they are over a dollar for the small cans, and if I find a sale with 2 for one dollar (.50 cents) I will go over my shopping limit.
I use coupons, although not always, sometimes it is too distracting after a long day. So I don't go shopping. Groceries have definitedly gone through the roof, and I find when I am in the city, in a neighborhood I used to live, I stop at their market, and get the best bargains, usually with the meats. Fish is good, if you find some you like.
We did have good meat sales, and they won't come again until June or July. The vegetables are supposedly on sale again, although the local markets will give a better price.
Cheese is good, and be creative. Use the freezer when you do find a bargain, and don't pass up the family=size bargains if you are single. Wrap and freeze these, and use in the next 2 to 3 months.

Yes I have noticed I am spending more on food. The meat, veges have gone up. Winter has started so soups are a big thing for me. Just reorganizing the family meals get me through. When visitors come, I don't go to too much bother. Just cheap meals like quiches and salads. You can spend less if you workout a list for the week, just buy whats on list. I make a menu up for the week and we stick to that. The wages need to be put up, not petrol or food.

It isn't just groceries either! Paper products like toilet paper and paper towels, napkins etc have doubled in some cases! I think these gas prices are adding on the cost of everything due to transport costs.
