find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Hmm, never answered one of these before, but this is my first stab at it.
You may want to figure out why you're eating and what it's replacing if it's replacing anything. Also, figure out what it is that you're eating when you feel the urge to eat. If it's in the sweets category then you've got a bit of a problem given your condition.
My suggestions are:
-Substitute eating with something else... how about sugar-free gum? It'll keep your mouth busy, so you won't be inclined to eat something else with it.
-Brush your teeth...often! Whenever I think I'll eat too late in the evening I brush my teeth with really minty toothpaste, because it makes all food taste AWFUL! ...Caution: if you ignore the bad taste at the beginning and keep eating the food will eventually taste fine and you'll be back at square one. You need a strong will to have the toothpaste idea work for you.
-Think of something better than eating?! Busy yourself in something fun.
-Do the opposite: exercise when you feel like eating. Nothing big. You could exercise while watching tv. Buy some cheap-o 5lbs weights and work your obliques or biceps or do squats holding weights.
Good luck! Hope this helped. (sorry if it was too long) :D

I lost a whole stack of weight just by eating sensibly and taking plenty of exercise, oh and drinking plenty of water to flush out all the toxins.
I didn't follow any particular diet all I did was try to eat 75% raw food, salad, fruit etc and 25% cooked, baked potato, stew, erm anything really. I didn't need to cut down my portion size cos you can eat salad till you bust. I didn't get hungry at all. I had oats or muesli for breakfast, plenty of fruit and a salad sandwich for lunch and a big salad and something cooked for tea.
If I were you I would check with your doctor, he or she may have information on special diets that could help you with your particular dietary needs.
The exercise thing is very important though. It makes you feel good and it helps you stay healthy and it helps the weight just fall off. I used to exercise to dance DVDs, they are great fun. Amazon have a super selection.
I found it helpful to have a friend to lose weight with. We would encourage and commiserate with each other through the weeks of sensible eating and exercise. If there is someone you know who is wanting to lose weight too it would be a good idea if you could get together and work out a plan together, it is always easier with a friend.
Whichever way you decide to go remember how long it took to gain the weight. It is going to take a while to lose it too. A healthy weight loss rate is 2 or 3 lbs a week. These get-slim-quick plans may work in the short term but chances are you will not be able to sustain that kind of loss and you may put it all back on, so be sensible about it. It took me just over a year to lose all my excess weight the first time but by the end of it I felt fantastic. In fact every pound that came off left me feeling as though I was achieving something.
I need to start all over again now after putting on loads of weight through pregnancy, so I will be following my own diet and exercise regime, when i get the energy to start it ;o).
Good luck hope you have success.
