No the dry food is not on the recall list.Only the kitten and puppy canned were but they didn't have any problems and weren't contaminated.

As far as what one is better..Canidae is a little better but they are both excelalnt choices.

I have heard the Chicken Soup can cause gas in some dogs. If your feeding Canidae now then I would not switch. Canidae is affordable. I get at 40 pound bag for 38 dollars. I do have 2 big Golden's here so compare that to the other brand.
I personally would not get any other brand. My Golden's are very healthy and happy. Their coats are beautiful and their teeth are very nice.
I guess it a matter of personal choice.

I decided to look into these food for you and they both are good foods. Which is better is based on personal beliefs and cost effectiveness for your household.
However, I will tell you which I would choose not knowing the prices of these foods.

Canidae's products are good, they are made of human grade meat in many cases and these meat sources are generally listed as the first ingredient by weight. However, most of their products are listed and sold for "all life stages". Really what this means is that the food is balanced for any dog regardless of size or stage of life. Generally these foods are not the best choice because dogs have different nutritional needs at different stages of life (i.e. puppies need more fat, seniors need less calories, etc.).

This is the first time I looked at Chicken Soup's food and I am really impressed (so impressed I might look into buying it for my dogs). The adult formula has the first 3 ingredients as meat followed by fish and some very good other ingredients. We were taught in veterinary nutrition that there should be at least 3 animal protein sources in the first 5 ingredients. This is a high quality protein source food.

As with all foods it is important to switch over gradually and then monitor your pet to see how they react to the food. This means making sure their stool is normal, if anything looks too funky they might be allergic or you may be feeding too much. Your dog(s) might look great on one food that another dog looks horrible when they eat, it's trial and error, but both of your choices are decent!
