My grandfather is an atheist and my grandmother is a hardcore christian. The've been married over 40 years and are both over 70. Both have worked all their life and are still working (though nowadays it's mostly around the house).
I am neither an atheist or a christian and even I believe in working so I think that the belief in working has nothing to do with religion.
I think from your question that you haven't spent time with atheists and are judging them without actually knowing them. Try to talk with them about things other than religion and you'll find out they have their good and bad points just like christians do. We are all just people.

Are you implying that only hare-filled, pseudo-Christians work?
Well, of course you're correct. They're the only ones who read in Acts 14:11, "After you subdue all the beasts of the land and fish of the sea, go forth and work as you are the only valuable being in God's creation. Show the doomed masses your inherent superiority by asking the silliest questions possible in an effort to soothe the tragic wound you suffer by belief in your own infallibility."
Thus sayeth the Lord.

This is an odd and seemingly judgmental question. The majority of atheists probably make a better living than you or I.
The only problem with atheists is they are trying to get rid of God, as if that were possible. They say He doesn't exist - if they are correct in this, why not leave the Christians be? If God doesn't exist, wouldn't the whole idea eventually go away? Or, are they afraid He does exist and may have to one day be accountable to Him?
What would any of this have to do with their employment status? I disagree with their beliefs, but I respect them as fellow citizens.

I've been working since I was 16 and all the atheists I know are gainfully employed (well one is semi retired)
You might want to bear in mind that atheists (in general) tend to have a better education and as such are more likely to be employed.

The more educated a person is, studies show the more likely they are to be an atheist. So I'd say it would be much more religious people on welfare.

Stormy, You are insulting to me and your own religion. I would say very few atheist have ever been on welfare. Didn't you know atheism is a belief of the educated.
Yes I work. I have retired from one career, don't need to work for money, but have started a business because I actually like what do.

I am an agnostic. I sit around all day thinking about whether or not I believe in Job.
Heck, I figure, just in case there is a God he might kill off all my loved ones, take away my land, and cover me head-to-toe in boils much like he did dear ol' Job. So why work? Why work when your God is so terrible to those who get involved in life and attempt to make a better world?
Like you and your God, I get dipped in Holy Water, learn to hate others, leech off of others and spew inane b.s. I figure if God is watching, I've earned myself a ticket to the Rapture.

I got a better question for a bible basher such as yourself,, do all christains beleive in raping 4 year boys? I guess if your a girl it would be a 4 year old girl you prefer.
Atheists r free thinkers, some become scientists,, the kind who work for NASA and put your McDonalads wage to such a shame they tend to make fun of doctors while doctors make fun of what you make
