Before bashing me, think rationally about this; somebody needed to run Hell, someone needed to be the exact opposite of God. You cant have good without having evil. And the fact that God appointed Satan as the ruler of Hell instead of merly blinking him out of existence. Why would he be torturing everyone who goes into Hell if he wanted to make an army out of them? That is why I dont think Satan is bad as everyone thinks he is

How I wish you actually know how accurate your thinking is, as heretical as it may sound to many people. Call him evil or bad or whatever unprintable words you like, but the so-called Satan is doing a job he has been assigned to do and he is good at it. I wish we would get better at our jobs instead bashing Satan at the slightest opportunity.

You are also tight about no good without evil; it is an attribute of the lower world of duality in which we are right now. There is neither evil nor good in the true spiritual world where God resides.

Satan is only ever mentioned about 4 times in the Old Testament, at:-

1 Chronicles 21:1
Zechariah 3:1-2
Job 1:6-12, and
Job 2:1-7

In the New Testament, Satan is only mentioned once (or twice if you are REALLY picky):-

Matthew 16:23, and
Matthew 4:5-11

In ALL cases, a "satan" was generally perceived or portrayed as an obedient sevant who perfomed a specific duty of strategic obstruction. NEVER was he portrayed as an evil, powerful, anti-christ figure. All of that generally comes from the Puritans, the Pilgrim Fathers, and so on

To answer your question...NO, Satan wasn't particularly evil.... the "dogma" which makes him into a Goat-like figure with powers over Hell (and so on) was designed to make non-believers quake in their boots.

Good to see someone is FINALLY using their brain to decipher the scriptures and what they REALLY say.

Keep up the good work.

Uh, yeah dude, where the hell have you been. There is an entire philosophy and way of life based on this very thing. It's called Satanism, and christians don't even get the sarcasm of the name. Satanists know that not only is Satan not evil, but that he doesn't exist. They also know that many christians call Satan Lucifer and find this not only humorous but also admittance from christians that Satan is not evil because Lucifer is the bearer of light and the morning star - his very name translates into this. Your points simply point out the double-standards the christains can't seem to see clearly for themselves, so PEACE man

Your thinking seems logical, but inaccurate.

God did allow Satan to continue to exist for very good reason. The most basic description of a reason is that we are given free will.

But, Satan is the embodiment of evil. His first act was to stand in defiance and say that he could take over as god of all. His pride led him to believe that he was as great or greater than the One Who created him.

By the way, I don't believe that Satan lives in hell - hell is truly reserved for him when all things come to an end. It is also reserved for all who refuse God.

Satan continues his prideful reign, deceiving many away from God. He wants Gods job to the point where he convinces people that lifestyle contrary to God's design is OK.

Read "Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel. The whole book is great, and the idea of Satan and hell are discussed in one or two chapters.

Wow, if your Christian; you daring to think outside the box, and I applaud you.

There are some funny inconsistencies about the Satan story. What one of your answerers brought up with Satan/Lucifer for instance. The fact that Jesus was also called the morning star and in fact changed the face of the god beliefs of the time.

Even if all this is myth and legends as anyone outside of religion will tell you. We shift the myth and our lives change. Keep thinking.

Actually God sent a lot of angels to hell and other places of banishment. I don't think he's ever voided anybody. Either way no you're not the first, they're called Satanists, well discounting those kooky LaVeyans.

There were actually Satanist long before LaVey ever came up with that glorified atheism and decided to hijack the name Satan from the actual theistic Satanists.

I even have and regrettably it is clever. I additionally observed from paying interest to the gospels in church that Jesus seems to disagree with a number of what's declared interior the previous testomony. So now i've got self belief that peace and love is a thank you to genuine happiness, and something that reason conflict and hate is incorrect. ( it is on a non secular point purely, i do no longer argue medical data basically as a results of fact it offends human beings)

Your question is pointless since there is no god then the devil doesn't exist as well.
