If so, who does God really listens to?

There doesn't seem to be a checks and balance system in the Catholic religion. The Pope can excommunicate 100 Brazilian politicians for voting on abortion but no one can threaten to block that. If "GOD" revealed to the Pope, how is it that one man is able to carry out the excommunication process?

I didn't know Mormons could excommunicate people...hmmm...interesting. No, I don't think so.

The Church is not a democracy.

To some that might sound appalling, but actually it's a blessing.

The beliefs of the Church are not left to popular vote, nor are Her laws. Her beliefs are based on the laws and teachings of God. Are the ten commandments open to popular vote? The Brazilian politicians who legalized abortion excommunicated themselves when they took a stand against God. The pope had every right to kick them out.

Do not get confused thinking the pope is a dictator. He is not. He cannot excommunicate anyone he feels like for whatever reason. Excommunication only happens when there are valid reasons to do so, like with those politicians.

God bless.

Mormons only excommunicate for defiance against the quarium of the 12 apostles or the prophet, or a person is found cheating, or spreading falsehoods or going against the churches beliefs. They cannot excommunicate members from another church however, because mormons have a differant God then the catholic God.

People excommunicate themselves through their behavior.

All excommunication means is that a person who would normally be able to receive Communion ( or other sacraments except Reconciliation)cannot due to their behavior. It is a medicinal penalty- one meant to show the person they have done something wrong and need to correct their relationship with God.

Mormons and Catholics would not excommunitcate members of the opposite group because there is no jurisdiction.

Besides, I don't think the Mormons have Communion since they are not Christians.

Only Catholics can be excommunicated from the Catholic Church.

Excommunication is a severe penalty resulting from grave crimes against the Catholic religion.

It is imposed by church authority or incurred as a direct result of the commission of an offense.

Excommunication excludes the offender from taking part in the Eucharist or other sacraments and from the exercise of any ecclesiastical office, ministry, or function.

There are a few offenses for which Latin Rite Roman Catholics are automatically excommunicated (the Latin term is Latæ Sententiæ):
+ Apostasy - the formal renunciation of one's religion, especially if the motive is deemed unworthy
+ Heresy
+ Desecration of the Eucharist
+ Physical force against the Pope
+ Attempted sacramental absolution of a partner in adultery
+ Ordination of a bishop without a Papal mandate (e.g. all bishops in the government-run Chinese Patriotic Church)
+ For non-electors present in the conclave, revelation of the details of the conclave
+ Simoniacal provision of the Papal office
+ Violation of the sacramental seal of confession by a priest or bishop
+ Procurement of a completed abortion

Remember the purpose of excommunication is the correction and redemption of the person who has chosen to separate himself or herself from the Church.

With love in Christ.

I don't know any of that garbage, but I do know that the Catholics (as usual always apologizing for some filthy, ungodly act) never excommunicated Hitler who still to this day, is a Catholic.

Beware of that false religion. Time's almost up.
