To be accountable means that you must take responsibility for your own actions. If you are having a hard time disciplining yourself in certain areas, it helps to have someone that you can trust as an accountability partner; one you have to answer to.

It simply means taking the blame when you've done something wrong. Taking responsibility for your own actions and choices.
For example:
I was caught driving after drinking too much.
I was held accountable for that.
Meaning: I went to jail. I paid my fines. I went to see my probation officer monthly for a year. I had to get a rule 25. I sought treatment to overcome my addiction to alcohol. I have chosen to stay sober.
I blamed no one but myself.
I held myself accountable and I have learned from that mistake.

It means that you take personal responsibility for the wrong you cause or commit. It means not playing the blame game or blaming the devil or saying that because your parents screwed you up that's why you're screwed up. Basically it means taking responsibility for your life and what you do with it.

It means taking responsibility for your actions. If something goes wrong, or something bad happens, just own up. Say, "Yeah. It was me." Don't try to play it off like, "Oh, it was because of this other thing, or because of someone else."

It means taking responsibility for everything you say and everything you do. It means if you are wrong - then say so. It means don't blame God or the devil. Just you. No excuses.
