Even with the frequent potshots they take at your (and other) religions?

I'm not a Christian but I like South Park

I do not like The Simpsons in fact that show bothers me especially with the glorification that Homer Simpson receives for being a complete tool. I also just do not think that it is a funny show, they do not really mock anything they just poke fun at the obvious.

However, I do love South Park because I feel that show is creative and funny with its delivery its blatant use of metaphors and understanding of American Culture. Yes, they mock every religion but so what people will always make fun of Christianity, and other religions. I am Christian and we have alot of stuff to make fun of about our religion, I mean it doesn't seem weird that people close there eyes wave there hands in the air and sing? If I did that in the middle of the street but said I was atheist that would be weird so makes it any less weird because I believe in a god?

Finally Family guy yes and no, Peter bugs me for the same reason Homer Simpson does why are idiots who are clear drains on society glorified as these awesome guys who are so cool? Especially if someone actually lived like Peter they would be made fun of for being a loser. I do think there 80's obscure jokes and sense of delivery is amazing though, also the social and political issues that they joke around about keep me interested as opposed to something like Blue Collar comedy. I find those guys more offensive for a entire list or reasons. So if they can have there own comedy specials then so can these shows.

Simpsons still funny after all these years, including the bits about Flanders and all his religious hangups. South Park has become boring with it's incessant use of the F word and slamming of the Jews; there are other creeds they could "go after," but I find Satan and Saddam episodes amusing except for the gay bashing and Family Guy has lost this viewer because the repeated references to penis and vagina do not evoke laughter. Shock comedy has lost it's appeal to the point of being as attractive a pot of cold, gummy oatmeal
thrown on the mariage bed. Japanese anime treatment of sexual material is far more refined than American "crude."

Well, the Simpsons has been a favorite of mine for many years. Though the writers got much better in the later seasons, the show is pure genius. It is a show that gives multi-faceted humor. It has a little something on every level of comedy, and I appreciate that. I don't really enjoy South Park. Yes, I understand it. I get that it is satire, but for my taste, it is just a little bit too crude for me. There is too much vulgar language for my taste on there. Family Guy is one of my favorite shows. I have all seasons on DVD. I watch them regularly and pretty much have memorized the entire show. I think it is genius. Seth McFarlane is wonderful. Yes, they all make some jabs at my religion, but if I cannot laugh at myself, then there is no point in being here.

I don't like those shows because I don't find them funny and it has nothing to do with the "potshots" they take on religion of any sorts...everything they make fun of is just not something I want to listen to...I rather watch something that has better content or entertaining then those shows.

I'm especially sick of parents letting their kids watch those shows! The are cartoons for adults! not kids! It is so harmful to the children if they watch these shows!

I too am a brother in Christ and my biological clock is ticking like a woman's. For this reason, I love Family Guy. In fact, this particular scene actually turns me on to no end:

South Park kicks rear, however. I haven't watched the Simpsons much.

I love the Simpsons, always have always will, South Park and Family Guy on the other hand...They take it over the edge sometimes, and I think that South Park is just plain stupid anyways.Family Guy, thats alright.

i actually have the dvd sets for all 3.
I think its hilarious. Everyone has their flaws, especially religion at times. Ppl need to relax and gain a sense of humor. 90% of the time, i'll be giggling and saying "That's soooo true!"
Every now and then, i sit with my parents and watch, and my dad is a pastor! Out of the 3, southpark is definitely the worst (not meaning 'bad', meaning raunchy) but they arent as bad as a couple years ago. I just remember that they dont just target christians only, they make fun of everyone. And when they do make fun of christianity, a lot of the times, its a situation of "Its sad, but true."

I don't have a problem with it, ESPECIALLY not with South Park. If they rip on religion for whatever reason, it usually ends on a high note.

One of my favorite episodes is how Mrs. Garrison and that one atheist teacher somehow manage to rid the world of all religion in a noble attempt to rid the world of war and suffering, but hundreds of years later people are STILL killing each other over what they should call themselves. :P

Well I do, I really can not speak for the entire Christian community. In my personal opinion I believe that these shows are speaking there free mind, and do not have a problem with it. The only reason they are funny is for the reason that they state the real facts that common people decide to ignore. =)
