Here is the word used in a Spanish sentence: ¿Hiciste la reserva de la habitación en la pensión?
I've looked it up on numerous translators. No results. Help!
(It doesn't mean pension.)

It can mean "pension" (as in retirement), but in your sentence it means "boarding house" or "guest house."

They way you have : Hiciste la reserva de la habitación en la pensión? It means
Did you made the reservation in the hostal?

Pension has two meanings depending how you use it:this way it was used for the meaning of Lodging. It could be hotel , hostel, or hotel.

the other usage is for retirement, or social security check... YES, THE ACTUAL CHECK. HERE IS A SENTENCE FOR THAT....
tu recibistes el cheque de la pension?
did you get your retirement check ?

so you have to be very careful in which way you are using it.

good luck

In the shown context it means a low cost hotel, mainly a room w/o services. More and less like a low cost student lodging.
