I have a stationary bike downstairs, and the screen shows the same ammount of calories burnt as the calculators on the internet show for bicycling for the given speed. However, when I select the stationary bike option on the online calculators, it shows calories burnt at about 1/4 of what my stationary bike screen says.

Which one am I to believe? I would think that resistance plays a role, but it doesn't as there is no difference between resistance 1 and 10, calorie burning wise.

I would say there are different factors that would affect the calories burned. First if you are sitting in your basement on a stationary bike sipping a coke watching tv your not going to be burning as many calories as you would be if you were outside in 90degree weather peddling up hill. The calculators are just an estimate and really dont mean much to me. I would suggest going outside on a real bike as much as possible. Use the stationary bike when its raining or you are watching tv. This should work for you.
Resistance does play a role because if its harder to pedel(higher resistance) then you are working harder. If it is easier to pedal (lower resistance) you are not working as hard.

Hi,

I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at
http://www.freelstore.info where they have a free trial and you only pay 6.95$ shipping and handling.
Good luck!

1)It supports your body weight so less energy is used 2)at what speed and resistance will you use it at? 3)you can't really lose weight with exercise,it's a myth.
