find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Seriously, diet and excercise are the only way to go. Diet alone isn't good enough, recent studies show that even slim people, if they don't get enough excercise, are packing weight around their internal organs. You have to get moving! At meals, half of what you eat should be veggies. If you're still hungry after you're done, eat more veggies. Not only will these fill you up with very few calories, you'll also be getting all the vitamins you need.
Find some activity that motivates you. Did you know Chuck Norris HATED excercise until he was in his 20s? He found something to get excited about! If martial arts and sports don't call to you, try swimming, taking long walks to explore your town, hiking, or learn a practical skill like carpentry or other forms of construction. And excercising is always better with friends, get them involved.

Well, your body wants to lose weight at a rate of 1 kg every week or so. The best way to do this is to find out how many Calories you burn in your routine day and eating fewer Calories than this number. The first couple of weeks, if you incorporate exercise into your plan, you will experience a small weight gain that will diminish and eventually reverse itself. This is the building of muscle and is why most diets fail. People don't expect to gain weight while dieting and excercising. After that, your body will lose weight. Good luck.

Weight training. Eat plenty of protein on training days. 30minutes of cardio 3 to 4 times a week. Don't go to buffets. Start adding fruits and veggies, whole grains and unprocessed foods into your diet. Drink green tea with minimal sugar instead of pop. Don't eat anything with a cartoon character on the box/wrapper. Eat breakfast and several small meals a during the day while avoiding a large supper. If all that's too hard just have a big bowel movement and chop off a limb, you'll lose one when you get diabetes and anyway.

Walk. I found that once I walked over 11 miles a week the pounds started shedding quickly. Sounds like a lot but all you need to do is walk 2 miles every day.
I usually walk 3 miles in a hour on Sunday. Monday, Tuesday I walk 2 miles each day I rest Wednesday. Thursday I walk 2 miles then Friday I see how I'm feeling. If I'm feeling good I walk 3 miles if I'm tired I keep it to 2 miles. Saturday I take the day off. Do it how ever you want but walk your 11 miles a week try keeping it in the 1/2 hour to 45 minute range and watch the pound drop.
Good Luck!

From working at a diabetes clinic, all i can tell you is that you should eat 3 HEALTHY meals a day, that include a handful (just a single handful) of different types of foods, 1 of vegtables, 1 of fruits, 1 of meat, and 1 of carbohydrates (breads, or sugary sweets.) in a plate..
Exercise for about 45min a day.
you should see or feel a difference in a week or two.
