Why is it mandatory for people to change their car tags every 7 years in WA. It's every 5 in FL. Seems stupid to the max surely the State will run out of numbers after a while???

I'm pretty sure they won't run out of number. They probably issue the same number on new tags as they have in the past; since there is a new expiration date on the new tags, there won't be any problem. (In NY, up until a few years ago, new plates were issued every other year, with the background and number colors reversed so the Police would know at a glance if the car has new plates on it. The official colors were orange and black, but I think they may have changed).

Just the opposite is true, with each new design there can be a different color and the number sequence can start all over again.
