Semitic (from the Biblical "Shem", Hebrew: שם, translated as "name", Arabic: ساميّ) was first used to refer to a language family of largely Middle Eastern origin, now called the Semitic languages. This family includes the ancient and modern forms of Amharic, Arabic, Aramaic, Akkadian, Ge'ez, Hebrew, Maltese, Tigre and Tigrinya among others.
So the modern people that are Semites are Arabs and Jews.
To be pro-Semite is to support these people.

The Jews, like the Arabs, are a Semitic race and when some one was against them they accused him of being anti-Semitic, i.e. a racist.
When that woman said she was pro Semitic, she meant she was not anti Jewish.

I have never heard of this, but, an Anti-Semite is somebody racist against Jewish people. Like Hitler, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Jesse Jackson, Mel Gibson, etc.

Pro-semite would be anyone for semitic peoples, which should include Arabs and Jews. "Antisemite" is normally the term hurled at someone who hates Jews.

Actaully the correct term is "philo-semetic" as in the opposite of "anti semetic".
Basically, people who are nasty and anti semetic feel the need to defend their nastiness by saying they really aren't anti semetic.
Its a variation of the "some of my best friends are Jewish" meme some people say in the very same sentence in which they trash Jews.

yeah it's a jewish thing...but I don't think it necessarily makes you a jew. If anti-semitism is hatred towards jews, then pro-semitism must be love towards jews.
