I have a niece who is 9yrs old. She is still allowed to run around naked if she wants. She stays at my house sometimes, and I would prefer that she be clothed. My sister says that she's glad she still is innocent enough not to care, and that the day will come on it's own.
We both live in an area that is secluded enough that she can't be seen by neighbors or the road.
Am I being a prude? I'm her uncle, and single.
I allow her to go bottomless, provided she wears a long t-shirt. Or, she can wear just panties. And even that is less than I wish. But, I don't allow her to go outside without anything. on.
I'm not a pervert, or a pedo., It just makes me uncomfortable.
What do you think? Am I being too old fashioned?

My boys werent allowed to walk around the house naked after they learned the difference between boys and girls and that it's inappropriate to run around without any clothes on when guests are around. They were around 5-6 when they learned this. Anyone who doesn't live in our house is considered a guest. I'd say that if your niece's parents allowed her to run around naked as she pleases in their home, than that's their choice. If she's at your house, she should follow your rules. If youre not comfortable with her running around naked because of her age, then simply sent guide lines for your house. Just say that you would like her to wear clothes when shes at your house. I don't think that's too much to ask! You shouldn't have to feel uncomfortable around her. In my opinion, 9yrs old is a little old to be still be doing this, but she's not my child.

I agree with you 9 is way too old for her to be running around naked. 7 years old is where the naked running should stop. just talk to your sister and tell her its bothering you that your nine year old niece is still running around naked like she is 3 or 4 and its not appropriate for her, especially since your a man. And I'm not saying your a pedo or perv but your still a man and she could become accustom to running around naked in front of men that she is not even related to or someone that is a perv or pedo so i guess she is lucky that it is you and not someone else.

9 is way to old to be running around naked especially around members of the opposite sex. I know you said you live in an isolated area but you never know who could be squatting in the bushes watching. My daughter is only 2 and i will not allow her to run around without clothing on. A t shirt and pullup are the least i allow her to wear. i don't want some pervert getting their thrills staring at my baby!
I would be uncomfortable too with a niece or nephew running around naked too.

Its nice that she's innocent enough not to care, but gently remind her mother that the rest of the world may not be. By allowing her daughter to do this, especially outside the home, she could attract unwanted attention from perverts or pedophiles and become a target. Its sad, but in this day and age allowing a girl even that young to be that free with her body is inadvertantly putting her in harm's way.

I think it's weird for a 9 yr old to run around without any clothes on. My daughter is 3 and sometimes she runs around in just panties after a bath, but she normally asks for pajamas.

Oh this is absolutely ridiculous! This child should NOT be running around naked! You need to make it clear that she can do whatever she wants at home (although she shouldn't be able to do this at home either) but she will not run around like that at your home. You need to make this clear to your sister. If someone saw you with a 9yr old girl running aroung naked, what would they think? I would feel uncomfortable in your situation also, I think something needs to be said.

They obviously really like you and want you there so take it as a compliment.i know that's not much consolation to you you must be stressed out to death.i'm not sure if there's much you can do i mean you could have a word with the parents but they might take offense and they've been very good letting you stay.i guess now you have a taster of what it's like to be a parent!the kids sound bored and they're just looking for someone to play with.i understand you need your space the only thing i can think of is to ask if you can get a lock for your bedroom door so you have some privacy?

I believe she doesn't care, and its a shame any of us have to, but I'd draw the line at age 4 or 5. You never know who or what is watching..... even out in the sticks.

9 year old is not acceptable.She`s close to puberty, and not to mention she should be uncomfortable as well. At that age the child should be self aware.
