Hi, Jamie:

I had a roommate for several years and he was a Mormon bishop. He told me that during the Temple indoctrination, they pass a knife under your neck and abdomen in a threatening manner. It makes it clear that there is a punishment for divulging secrets.

Also, there is another right, think it is called blood guilt, where one carries a death sentence for certain crimes against Mormons. There have been a few assassinations in Mormon history, but it is not nearly as bad as shaming Muhammad. Muslims must 'tekeyya' deceive you rather than insult Islam.

Read the Bible through and through, and God never expects one to lie for Him; in fact, Revelation 21:8 says ...all liars... will have their part... in the lake of fire.

Yes, God expects His subjects to deal in love and truthfulness. So, such bizarre practices as killing or lying in the name of God will disqualify one for occupancy in Heaven with heavenly beings who have never sinned.

Blessings, One-Way

I am a mormon (inactive)... I have heard of no such thing...
There are different branches of the Mormon church, however.
Here is also something you have to keep in mind: Mormons are all different people. They aren't all the same... they don't think the same, they don't talk the same, and they don't behave the same...
If you (or some one you know) got a death threat... well, I think that it is really unheard of... and uncalled for. I think that it is highly doubtful, but like I said, not every one acts the same...

I am an outspoken, ex-mormon (LDS), and I have never received a death threat... they aren't like that.

Edit: In response to a later answer... I've been to the temple, there is no knife, no implying of death or punishment, if you're going to criticize... at least use real ammo, not blanks!

The 'Danites' used to whip the saints in line for Joseph and Brigham with death threats and a little 'softening up'. They don't do that any more, sorta like polygamy.

The previous temple rite used to include slashing the throat and disemboweling oneself (or by the faithful) if the secret of the temple was told to any non-member.

Any fanatical member of any cult often feels obligated (even motivated) to threaten non or ex members with death or some other kind of punishment, when they discover god isn't doing anything about the apostasy fast enough.

I just get a lot of 'thumbs down' on Y!A. Surprisingly, I take undo pride in that.

I was never a member, but attended for many years. I haven't received any type of death threats. A lot of my family are still Mormons, and although they gave me a hard time for leaving...they never threatened me. And now, they don't really say anything at all.

I do still have missionaries showing up at my door and calling me. Someone keeps giving them my new numbers and addresses.....

There are no knives or any weapons used in the LDS temples, and no threats, either spoken or implied. And I did take out my endowments before 1990. Except for the Mountain Meadows disaster, there aer no records of any Mormon assassinations in Utah.

We believe that we make very sacred covenants with God in he temple, and among these are that we never discuss the temple ceremonies with outsiders. I believe that those who have discussed it with anyone outside the church have broken sacred covenants, and as the Bible says, God will not be mocked.

Is it because of the intolerance of the Mormon church and its members? Could it be that they fear that they might catch what you have? Is it rather because they do not want to hear the truth about their church?
Sorry to hear that your family is being treated badly by the Mormons.

You did not say how previously that handed off. we are human purely like easily all of us else, and no count number what our faith tells us people do lose it while they sense threatened. and prefer Pinkadot says it make no distinction what faith they are. yet they would not have. yet once you prefer to ask that then what style of individual could situation an extermination order for an entire group of folk purely because of the fact of their faith? That did happen in Nauvoo, ill. The Gov. of ill issued it and it replaced into not bumped off till purely those days, and if I undergo in techniques appropriate it replaced into bumped off purely in the final 2 many years. I forgot to characteristic the Gov replaced into not a Mormon.

My wife was raised LDS and left the church years ago. There are no death threats. But they continue to have someone from the church contact you from time to time to see if they can suck you back in.

Yes it is true. Several of the more outspoken and vocal ones have gotten death threats.
