politicans always say they are doing what the american people want them to do. they say "the polls say" what does the poll say (if there is one) about how the american people feel about the immigration bill that congress and the senate will be voting on. as the democrats are eager to state what the polls say about what we should do as the war goes, they should also be willing to disclose the same about what the polls say and how the american people feel about it. is this what most americans want? thank you

You are right about politicians quoting the polls when is convenient to them.
There are times, many times when they follow the polls. However, on those core issues when the values of their party is at stake, they will not follow the polls nor will they quote them. Look at how the democrats are for an immigration bill that is not supported by the majority of the voters and how the republicans support a war that is also not supported by the majority of the voters.

You have a point but I would not let polls necessarily sway a vote. Polls can be very biased. An online poll conducted by Bill O'Reilly versus the same poll conducted by Anderson Cooper would probably yield very different results.

There are several polls about immigration...with varying results. Polls do NOT set policy....

Only the government can set immigration policy. If you disagree with the policy, you show your displeasure in the ballot box.

Of course, Boobus Americanus doesn't vote...they only cry and moan.

I'm not quite sure why you referenced O'Reilly. Is this something you heard on his "show"? Sounds like something he might say. Don't you know that the man suffers from diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the brain? He needs to be seriously medicated.

but... President Bush has been pushing amnesty for quite a while and he really wants a WIN on this one. He does not govern by polls and does not care what you think about illegal amnesty.
He will do what he thinks is right regardless of polls or what you think.

Ask yourself two questions:

1. How long have you been alive?
2. In all those years, how many times have you been "polled"

There you have it.
