Hi beagle lovers/owners. I just bought my beagle when he was 5 months old, he is currently 6 months old. I was thinking of buying another dog (female, so there won't be as much 'dominant' tension) so my beagle can have a friend @ apt. ANy suggestions? What other breed get along w/ beagles?

It's been my experience that beagles prefer other beagles. If you want a different breed, be sure the temperament is as sweet as the beagles, so the new dog doesn't stress out your beagle. I've also found that a dog of the opposite sex is the best companion because there will be less "discussions" over who is dominant. Usually they both agree that the female will rule.

i got my beagle to companion with my lab and they get along great . my lab is 8 yrs. old and the beagle is 4 mon. but if i lived in an apt. i think i would just get another beagle. if you want something different try a whippet. they get along great with other dogs and they are very personable

I have a 4 year old male Beagle and his companions are a 9 year old male Chihuahua/Terrier mix and a 4 year old female Pit Bull. They all play and get along great.

Alot of dogs could i had 2 dogs then i got another one thats a pomeranian and she got along fine with them. but my other 2 dogs didnt really like it that much but then they liked her astarted playing with her so it will take a while for them to adjust to the new dog so really you can get any kind of dog it will just take a while for them to adjust.

make sure they are spayed/neutered so you dont have any pups that have to end up in a shelter,or possibly abusive home.usually male & female get along better,,doesnt matter about breed.
