There are no signs that Jesus kept any records or wrote anything down during his life or after his resurrection? Why not?

Ok, let's look at the answers we have so far.
1. Jesus wrote on the ground.
I meant writing that we could access today, not writing we have to take the disciple's word for.
As for the other responses, why couldn't Jesus have written something directly?

My guess is that he could afford it. Writing materials cost money and doesn't seem he had very much. Besides, the Christian movement seemed to be more based on the person of Jesus, which included his words and actions, rather than on words written on a page. Check out the sect at Qumran and the idea of the Teacher of Righteousness. Jesus seems to be very similar to what this group was anticipating.

if he'd of written everything down he never would have had the possibility to travel as freely as he did... in pre-judaism traditions, and pre-christanism traditions of the Americas, people wrote nothing, yet remembered stories from centuries back... by means of oral transmition, from mouth to ear.
if this tradition had survived, maybe thing would be different now a days... maybe people would have more respect for what was and what is...
ok, writing has open up some doors, but has also closed some... that enclosed in this little sentence: "LEARN BY HEART"... that meant, at the beginning: letting world reach your heart... by touching your heart, the words become part of you, and not only words of mouth

I am not sure if JESUS wrote anything. But JESUS came to give us unperishable life.JESUS death on the cross,JESUS allowing his body to be bruised and the torment for people who havent born yet.Doesnt it say it all.
John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.
With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

He knew things written down were temporary. He did know how to write because He wrote in the sand.

Face to face communication by a teacher is most effective when it comes to spiritual realm. The writing in the sand can be interpreted as a direct gesture of communication.

Various options:
1) He didn't actually exist
2) He was illiterate
3) He did write things, but later editors didn't like the message

Because the Son of God knew that what He said would be spoken and read 2000 years later.
After all, do you write down your mother's name? Of course not, that's something you know you'll remember always ... Jesus knew it'd be remembered :)
