Anyone that still believes in the devil/satan needs to read "The Origin of Satan" by Elaine Pagels. It's a purely manmade myth.

We're very good at it - pointing the finger. In ancient times people would purchase a goat in order to ceremonially place their sins onto it. They would then let it go into the wilderness - taking their sins with it. The term 'scapegoat' originates from this idea. The concept of an evil that is 'personified' in some way is another form of 'scapegoating.' We all have choices to make and sometimes we make the wrong choices. We have to take responsibility for those wrong choices. We are not controlled like puppets by an evil force or by God for that matter. We are completely free agents.

There is ONE God. A God of goodness. That is the only reality. Anything that opposes that reality chooses to stand against it.

In some ways that 'red burning monster' is real. It is the little red monster called 'deception' that lives in each of us from time to time.

The Devil, the opposer of god's guidance , exists. He is a powerful angel. He tempts Jesus after Jesus being baptised and filled with holy spirit.
Jesus mentions the devil at the bible book of John chapter 8 verse 44 when addressing the scribes and pharisees who tried to catch him out by his words constantly.
At revelation 12 the great dragon is the one callled Devil and Satan ( meaning resister ), and the original serpent ( remember the serpent in eden who lied to Eve) is hurled out of heaven as the Rule of Christ Jeus as god's appointed king begins.
The devil is misrepresented as a pitchforked horned hell dwelling being but this is due to people not knowing the truth of what the bible really says.
The best book of the bible for the devil being mentioned id the book of Job. The story of Job shows that the devil challenged that people only serve god because it brings blessings and that when times are difficult people will stop walking with god. Like Jesus Job proved faithful even when he had to suffer great loss and could not think why it happened. " Shall we accept what is good and not also what is bad ? " said Job. Even Job's wife pressured him to' Curse god and die' maybe she thought it would be kinder than to keep living and suffer. but , Job remained faithful and thus proved the devil a liar.
The devil has caused confusion and keeps people occupied that the ligt from god's word the bible and the spirit of the reigning king Jesus might not shine .
People do not know how we got here , why we die ? why god allows wicked things to happen ? why ae things so bad ?
1 john 5 verse 19. the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.
today Satan is misleading the entire inhabited earth says the revelation to John. No surprise then that evolutuion is taught in shcools and religious leaders approve of homosexuality.

The word "devil" comes fromthe Greek "diabolos" or "one who divides." This is a name given to the angel called Satan whose name in Hebrew means "accuser." So, Satan or the devil would be an angel who looks to accuse the faithful before God and God before the faithful. He is said to be the father of lies and usually tries to get people to believe half truths about God or about the true dignity of man. Is this he would be evil since truth is good and that which is less than true would lack good and hence be evil. The idea that he is a monster in a tight jumpsuit is a modern mytholigizing of this figure from the Old and New Testament. In the Christian understanding, Satan was an angel named Lucifer (or the bearer of light) who fell from heaven because he wanted to be like God. Being exiled from heaven by the Archangel Michael (whose name in Hebrew means "who is like unto God?", ie the very battle cry he raised against Satan), he fell to earth where he then tempted man to sin.

I do believe that the devil exists, but I believe that, against the "accuser," God has provided us an "Advocate," the Holy Spirit who reminds us of the truth and brings about unity.

He's supposed to have been the brightest of all the angels, got a bit big-headed, rebelled against God, and was chucked out of Heaven. As he fell he burned. And because he turned against God, he's now a monster. Or so the Christians say. I don't think it's a coincidence that any representation of him looks like either one or an amalgam of many pre-Christian deities!

The Devil Is Always Something Beautiful..>>>>>other wise, He could not "trick" People and Place them in One of His Traps. He's very Evil, and Hates You.! He is A Spirit, and Wants you in HELL With Him and His Demons, When God throws them there! He is very much alive and Well On this Planet ,,, Earth! If you are a Christian, He Loves to Steal YOUR Testimony. If you are not a Christian, He Wants to Kill YOU before you get to KNOW and ACCEPT JESUS. His Job is to Kill, Steal, and DESTROY!! He Certainly does not look like a Red Burning Monster! He is real in Spirit......".ALL BAD THINGS COME FROM HIM"!!>>>>>Always Rebuke HIM IN "JESUS" NAME. GOD HAS MORE POWER In US, THAN THE DEVIL!

I always though the Rolling Stones song "Sympathy for the Devil" explained him best...

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
Ive been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith
And I was round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a generals rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
Ah, whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
Who killed the Kennedy's?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name
But whats confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or Ill lay your soul to waste,
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name,
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game,
