Remove the temptation with a polish that tastes sickening, they have it in the beauty supply stores I think.

Well I can't tell if you are a guy or a girl, but if you are a girl you could try getting your nails done. Have a full set put on and while they are on your nails will continue to grow. When you finally decide to take them off use a nail strengthener a few times a day on both sides of the nail. You could also try putting a deterrent on your nails.....I know they sell polishes that have a really bad taste to keep you from biting them. The longer you have the nails on the longer you won't be biting them, therefore breaking the habit. Good luck!!

Having been a nail biter myself, I know what you're going through.
At 14,my mother took me to a salon and had me get artificial nails put on, thinking I couldn't bite my nails when plastic nails were on top. How wrong she was! I was so determined to get at those nails, I actually picked at them from underneath.
I wasn't just a nail biter, I was also a nail picker/breaker so no amount of icky tasting nail polish would work for me.
If you aren't as destructive, clear nail polish should do the trick.
Eventually, I managed to stop biting my nails just by taking time to dress them up i.e. soaking them, and painting them.
Watching movies is still a challenge for me though; I get so invoved with the plot that I sometimes wind up chewing my nails. Solution? The minute I find them in my mouth, I stick a piece of gum in my mouth and sit on my hands for 20 minutes.
It's been 3 years now, and while my nails have gone through some rough patches - writing a short novel. Argh! The stress! - I can honestly say that I no longer consider myself a nail biter. Occassional chewer, yes, but they are nowhere near as short as what they use to be.
And it took 4 or 5 tries at quiting before I finally did so don't give up. Good luck!

1, get fake nails to cover them
2, coat them with a awfull taste ( you dont like )
3, do things with your hands more, to keep busy
4, when you start biting them, just say NO.
5. put a pic of Wonderfull Nails in front of you, No harm done, maybe you will want better looking nails.
6, use finger nail polish & Peel that off instead of biting your nails.

Clip them off the night before and the whole day there will be nothing to chew on.
The nasty polish stuff may help to train you brain to stop puting them in your mouth.
I live in Cleveland and if you have ever watched a CAVs game, you've seen Lebron James biting his nails and how gross it looks and he's rich and famous, DO YOU WANNA LOOK GROSS LIKE THAT? Think about it and good luck!

there should be a Sally Hanson brand (or any other brand will do) at you local drug store. Make sure the label clearly says its meant to prevent biting nails (the liquid is applied to your nails and has a non-toxic, bitter taste) if you just get clear nailpolish for base coats it may be toxic and meant for external use only

Put that stuff that tastes bad on your nails... or hot sauce. or when you think about biting them just think about your teeth wearing down and turning ugly and your nails looking bad. i've gone in and out of that habit, whenever i break it, i always start again...
