Celeste, this isn't unusual. You've probably added lean muscle mass as a result of the weight training. This is a good thing.
Using weight alone as a measure for fat loss and body composition can be deceiving. Some people can weigh a lot and still be very lean, while some people can be skinny and "fat" -- meaning their ratio of lean muscle to fat is low.
Many people when they begin a workout regimen experience weight gain, since the body will often respond rapidly in the beginning to resistance training and start adding lean muscle. Sometimes these initial lean muscle gains will be greater than the fat loss. However, within a few months, that usually reverses, since -- unlike fat -- muscle requires additional calories even at rest.
You should use your own sense of body composition as your ultimate gauge of progress, not a scale. Do you look and feel better? Do you seem stronger and leaner?
If the answer is yes, then pat yourself on the back and keep doing what you are doing.

same answer as everyone else. when you try to lose weight you always feel better when the scale says less than before, so it is normal to wonder why. muscle does weigh more this is because the mass simply takes up much less of an area on your body than fat does. fat is like jello kind of it doesn't weigh much but if it is distributed over a large area it looks like you weigh alot. you are on the right track, whatever you do don't try to quit the exercises because you are gaining muscle weight. skinny people aren't necessarily healthy. muscle is also more attractive. good luck!

Well, you are probably burning fat and building muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat so you may gain weight. Weighing yourself isn't the best way to see if your workouts are working, take pictures and compare before and after, I guarantee you, that you look skinnier while weighing a little more. I was 135lbs when I joined my school's track team as a sprinter this year, now I am 150lbs, and I look even skinnier.

You are gaining because you are building muscle. When you lift weights your body needs 48 hours in between to rebuild, anotherwords give your muscles a rest. Everyday is to much.
Use a tape measure, and how your clothes fit, to determine if you are losing. The scale will not tell you if you are losing inches.

you are probably putting on muscle weights. If you want to lose weight just do cardio and aerobics. Lifting is going to build muscle weight.
