I saw Star Wars at least eight times
Had the pac-man pattern memorized
And I've seen the stuff they put inside
Stretch Armstrong
I was Roger Staubach back in my back yard
Had a shoebox full of baseball cards
And a couple of Evil Kinevil stars
On my right arm
Well, I was a kid when Elvis died
And my mama cried
Chorus:
It was 1970-something
In the world that I grew up in
Farrah Faucett hair-do days
Bell bottoms and eight-track tapes
Lookin' back now I can see me
And oh, man did I look cheesy
But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
It was 1970-something
It was the dawning of a new decade
When we got our first microwave
And Dad broke down and finally shaved
Those sideburns off
I took the stickers off of my Rubix cube
Watched MTV all afternoon
My first love was Daisy Duke
In them cut off jeans
A Space Shuttle fell out of the sky
And the whole world cried
Chorus:
It was 1980-something
In the world that I grew up in
Skating rinks and Black Trans Ams
Big hair and parachute pants
Lookin' back now I can see me
And oh, man did I look cheesy
But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
It was 1980-something
Now I got a mortgage and an SUV
But all this responsibility
Makes me wish sometimes
Sometimes....
Chorus:
It was 1980-something
In the world that I grew up in
Skating rinks and Black Trans Ams
Big hair and parachute pants
Lookin' back now I can see me
And oh, man did I look cheesy
But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
It was 1980-something
1970-something
Aw, it was 19-Something.....

Honey I remember when the birth control pill was a new thing and women wore girdles. I was an adult when Elvis died.

Haha unfortunately, I was born at the tail end of the 80's so I didn't get to experience a lot of those things. However, I have older siblings that did, and my step-dad was totally into the 70's era. I love that song though, it pretty much captures everything.
Maybe I should write one about the 90's! There probably is one...but I don't know, the 90's weren't really all that different from the 80's in a lot of ways. The music and styles didn't really start changing until the mid 90's...but whatever. Cindi Lauper is still my hero.

Well I certainly remember being a teen during the 1970s. My cousin and I were talking about that the other day, about riding a bike in bell-bottoms and constantly getting snagged by the chain.

LOL...thanks for sharing...yeah...I remember. Some of my memories are sad though of times past that I cannot get back.
I never took acid, I smoked a little weed and I inhaled. So what, like I am ever going to run for President.

I have grade school year pics of me in bell bottoms, in high school I had the big hair of the '80's complete with electric blue eyeshadow, parachute pants and leg warmers...oh and very high clogs.
Yeah I sure remember those times.

Ok I was born in 1991. I don't have your memories like that but I really don't think I'm going to have any memories like that until I have kids, when we start talking about, remember when we used to actually press a button on a remote control to change the channel, instead of just thinking about it?

*sniffle* I was born in the wrong decade....You see I was obsessed with the 1950's when I was a teenager (Movies, TV shows, music, clothes, etc) , so things that make me nostalgic correlate to a decade I never lived in.
Yeah I am weird, I know.

Yep. I remember the 80s part. And looking back at some of my pictures....I did look very cheesy. We thought we were soo cute with crimped hair and high pony tails....oh and do you remember those scrunch socks with our jeans rolled up? Oh, how embarrassing!

I remember. I also remember when not only did one have to get UP to change the TV channel, there were only 13 to begin with (IF you were lucky,) & they all went OFF THE AIR overnight. Remember that?
